off-road solar ebike – Daymak Beast Kickstarter Project

Something a little different, an ebike with some macho off-road appeal… Canadian ebike experts, Daymak, are looking for some crowdfunding love to support the final design and manufacture of their innovative new, zero-emissions, solar powered on-road/off-road Ebike – The Beast.

The Beast is designed to add off-road capability and scooter functionality to the world of electric bikes. This solar powered bike has fully functional pedals that make it street legal in most of the civilized world without insurance or license, chunky wide tires that allow you go where regular bicycles can’t go and solar charging capability that works while you’re riding or at rest.

The solar battery pack charges at approximately 1 km/hr or 0.6 miles/hr in any type of daylight. Most riders will have no need for a plug-in charger – though one is included if you need a faster charge.

The Beast’s battery pack is removable and can act as an emergency power generator – the battery features two USB ports where you can plug any small device from your smart phone to a notebook and with 110V/220V plug available on the high-end Ultimate version you can even plug in a TV.

Some details:

  • 3 models – the Beast, the Beast Deluxe and the Ultimate
  • batteries – 48V/12AH LAB, 60V/12AH lithium, 60V/20AH lithium
  • range – 15 miles on a charge for the base Beast, up to 45 miles for the Ultimate
  • speed – 15.6mph for the base Beast to 20mph for the Ultimate
  • charging time – 6hrs, 4hrs and 2hrs

You can check out the pledge details of the Kickstarter campaign at the Daymak Beast Kickstarter project page. The project funding window closes July 30th.
