Emily’s Home Made Lovely

Welcome to Home Made Lovely, a special home tour series.

Hello! My name is Emily. I am a wife to one amazing man, mama to two delightful and busy littles, Emerson (4) and Gemma(2), step-mom to Branson (12), and the wearer of many other beloved hats. And I sometimes blog over at Blueberry’s Blog. Oh and we are expecting another little girl at the end of the year – I’ll be full term at Christmas! I am so excited to be here and to share parts of our beloved home with you all today.

Our journey to owning our home started a year and a half ago when we realized that we had grown too big for our home and needed to sell and buy a bigger one. This was a faith move – big time. And God moved mountains time and time again. We found this home by a chance open house we stumbled upon and instantly fell in love. It was stuck in the 1950′s but it had good bones and tons of cosmetic potential. We moved in a little over a year ago and haven’t stopped remodeling since. We are about 80% complete. Today I will be taking you on a tour the completed spaces of our home. If I had to nail down our style it would have to be ‘eclectic modern’. I have a deep love for a bargain. Most of our home was found via thrifting, Craigslist, yard sales, and curb finds.

When entering our home, you will be greeted by loveliest door I know. I instantly fell in love with it’s character and decided that a door like this needed to be yellow. Please come in…

This is our entrance hallway and while it isn’t huge, it’s so nice to have a space to greet guests and hang up coats.

Up next is our dining room…I just about fell over when I saw that window and those built ins.

Connected to the dining room is our living room space. I love the open floor plan and stone fireplace. It bright and airy, perfect for a stay at home mom who can fall into the trap of feeling trapped some days (feel me?).

(couches are from Ikea, yellow chair was a Craigslist steal)

This is one of my favorite spaces in the house. I found this bamboo chair for $20 at a second hand furniture store! And you will probably notice, that I adore elephants.

A huge pull for us to make the decision to buy this house was the space for a first floor playroom. The kids love this room and use it most of the day if we are downstairs.

This is where I spend a huge part of my day – the kitchen. The cabinets are original and I don’t think I could ever bring myself to take them out and update them.

Every kitchen needs a chalkboard wall.

My husband put in the backsplash. It’s it beautiful?

Next up is the second floor, starting with my son Emerson’s room. He loves green and all things dino!

Up next is Gemma’s room – which will be undergoing a big change very soon – the addition of her sister Scarlett. I loved sharing a room with my sister and look forward to many years of them making memories and fighting over shoes and mirror time.

This is the main upstairs bathroom. It had the worst floral wallpaper you can imagine, but once that was gone and we painted the walls black, it honestly became one of my favorite rooms in the house. (if a bathroom can be a favorite)

We still have a few more rooms to finish – including my step-son’s room, the sunroom, master bath and bedroom, and downstairs bathroom. We are about 50% done the master bedroom and hope to have it completed by the time our little Scarlett makes her debut at the end of the year.

Thank you Heather for this opportunity to share our beloved home with your readers! And I truly believe that it’s the people and the memories made with those people that make a home lovely.
