For the sake of fashion, I would be lying if I didn't proclaim my wish to have been alive to see the era of the 1960s arrive and depart. Born of the late 80s, you could say I only ‘just’ missed out. Not being encompassed by beehives, shift dresses and an abundance of black flicked eyeliner a la Twiggy, I do believe I were cheated and have made it my mission to make up for lost time.
Having allowed my eyes to a visual feast of dresses in all their many varieties from the collections by Jones and Jones, it was the copper toned lace of the Belle dress (as seen above) that truly stood out and satisfied my taste for fashions reminiscent of times gone past. With its feminine cut yet edgy deep v neck front, I was immediately taken by its retro vibe and began piecing together a look worthy of any 60s appreciating fashion apprentice. The belle dress as my base, I created the above look. Sourcing out some iconic vintage pieces such as the winklepicker style Chelsea boots, classic messenger bag and a deep navy cape (something a little bit different) I felt I was not only complimenting the dress but further drawing out a modern twist on the tantalising 1960s. Finishing the look with anything but a felt boater would have been unjust, so I included not one but two (wearing both at the same time entirely optional! Although I'd say one at a time would suffice.)
