3 Ways to Celebrate National Reading Group Month

Hooray! It’s National Reading Group Month!

Are you a book nerd? I love books and I especially enjoy books that help me with personal development. I’ve read plenty of fiction books but non-fiction books are my favorite. Reading books has allowed me to quickly learn how to invest, how to build wealth, and how to win friends and influence people.

Yes!

You can learn almost anything from a book. I even have a recommended list of great money books that every young adult should read.

Reading a good book on your own is fun, but reading with a group of friends can really make the book come alive. I find that a book group allows for a mastermind of sorts. It is a way for individuals to share common knowledge and find insights from fellow group members. Sometimes, you may learn something that you missed just by being in a group of people all reading the same book!

Reading groups are proving that good books bring people together. National Reading Group Month salutes reading groups. It fosters their growth and promotes the love of literature. It’s an opportunity for reading groups to reflect on their accomplishments and plan for the future — the perfect time to join or start a group.

This month is National Reading Group month and we are giving you three ways to celebrate.

1) Start a Book club

Find a few friends that enjoy reading as much as you do and pick up the same book. You can head to the library for an inexpensive read or traipse to the bookstore and purchase the books together.

2) Have a Reading Party!

Reading parties are my favorite parties. In a reading party, you plan a sleepover, everyone gets comfortable in a blanket, and well, you read. Yay! Super fun and an introvert’s delight. Try it for yourself. I try to include popcorn, a fireplace, and my glasses.

3) Host an NGRM Event

This suggestion comes from our friends at Grammarly.

The folks at Grammarly are dedicated to helping people improve their written communication. I learned to write well because I am an avid reader. Here’s what they have to say about National Group Reading Month.

Since the very first NRGM, the Women’s National Book Association hosted special events in “chapter cities.” Since then, reading groups around the country have hosted and attended their own events as NRGM’s popularity has spread. Make sure you first check the website’s calendar of chapter events to see whether you live near one of the chapter cities.
If you do not see your city, you have the opportunity to spread awareness in your own town. Popular venues for reading group events include libraries, schools, and community centers.

National Reading Group Month is an initiative of the Women’s National Book Association (WNBA). Founded in 1917, WNBA promotes literacy, a love of reading, and women’s roles in the community of the book.

Now grab a book and read, read, read!

Because of this post, a charity of my choosing has gained $50 to promote literacy! Woo hoo! Want to do the same? Click here.
