NYFW Diary

A jumble of photos to reflect my jumbled thoughts that always seem to penetrate my mind every time fashion week comes around. I quickly found my feet after hitting the ground running (a tradition I unintentionally seem to repeat every season as a result of errands piling up or demanding jobs just before I fly out, leaving me frantic and annoyingly unorganised), I adapted and thrived off the city that never sleeps. I flew to New York this time around with Marc Jacobs for the Daisy Tweet Pop-Up Store – an innovative concept where there wasn’t physical money but instead hashtags and tweets as the social currency that you could exchange for Marc Jacobs products. It was an innovative, engaging and exciting concept that I just knew I had to be a part of. It’s was so refreshing to see a global brand acknowledge, embrace and benefit from the power of social media rather than fighting against it.

Highlights of the week included: these red-carpet-ready gowns at Zac Posen, Porter magazine launching and meeting the owner Natalie Massenet (what an incredible business woman who has built an empire I truly admire), endless amounts of taxis for once, getting to see people I cherish but only get to see twice a year during fashion week, and discovering a little restaurant chain called Westville in Chelsea which reminded me of the healthy meals we have at home and made me nostalgic for my Australian shores sooner than I would have hoped for. The quest for finding good, affordable and healthy meals in Paris will distract me for now.
