Here we go, it’s officially the start of spring racing season! One of the biggest moments in the Australian fashion calendar.

I returned to Australia and jumped straight into my role as the 2014 Style Ambassador for The Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup Carnival. My role involves taking part in media and public speaking activities across the week, starting with the Blue Sapphire Ladies Luncheon yesterday and the Caulfield Cup Carnival this Saturday, where I’ll be spending time at the Pommery Pegasus and David Jones marquees.

As someone who usually attends the spring racing carnivals to observe the fashion rather than the horse racing, I’m also looking forward to being one of the judges for the Chadstone Fashion Stakes Contest this Saturday. This will be my third time this year acting as a judge. Earlier this year, I worked on judging panels to support emerging designers in both the fashion and accessories divisions (more details about this to come), but this will be my first time stepping into a role, alongside my beautiful colleague Scherri-Lee Biggs, that is open to the public.

It seems yesterday was just a warm up to what I can expect to see this weekend, with over 400 energetic men and women poised to start the spring racing season which is filled with fashionable outfits (often planned months in advance and/or custom-made to suit the traditional dress code of spring racing), competitive headwear, and a thrilling atmosphere.

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend! If you can’t make it, keep an eye out on TV as I just wrapped filming a little segment for the Channel 7 Network where we discuss the upcoming spring racing season and trackside fashion.
