Paneling Bedroom Upstairs // Before & After
Oh, this room! The previous home owners thought it would be an awesome idea to not only panel this room, but to then wallpaper over the paneling! Yay, lots of work for me. We originally had planned to rip out everything and put up new drywall. Since drywall is a pretty lengthy process, we decided to just paint the paneling. First, I had to remove the wallpaper which took about a week. Lots of coffee, vinegar, and hours of watching Gossip Girl on Netflix got me through it.
Once I got all the wallpaper off, I spent a few days priming all the paneling. I also painted the dark brown closet door and we replaced the old hardware.
I decided to paint the bedroom the same light gray that is in our kitchen. (Horizon by Benjamin Moore) I'm pretty obsessed with this color. I actually just painted our living room the same shade last week. It's a great backdrop for any style or decor.
The wood floors in this room really cleaned up well. I used a product called Rejuvenate. I am very happy with the results. I'm also in love with the windows in this room. It's amazing what white paint and a few tubes of chalk can do.
I'm very much in love with this room, just like I'm very much in love with all of my house now. :( My biggest regret with our home is that I didn't do some of this remodeling sooner so that I could of enjoyed it. Oh well, live and learn. Soon my home will be someone else's house to enjoy.
By the way, the bed is just an air mattress sitting on top of some storage totes. It was an easy way for me to stage a bedroom for selling the house. I actually had this room finished for over a month now, but just now got it decorated. I think it's bright, simple, and cheery!
