Fashion // The Dream Of The 90s Is Alive

Shopping for clothes has become a huge challenge for me. Not only because of my tiny petite build, but style wise as well. I feel like I'm at a weird age and my tastes have changed so much. I'm too small to shop in the petite section, I fit in kids clothes, and I still always look in the juniors area. What age am I supposed to stop this? (Can Forever 21 be renamed to Forever 31?) I'm pretty sure these are the only clothes that are ever going to fit me!

I'm not sure what my "style" is and I'd rather just pay someone to dress me. haha I go shopping and take many items into the dressing room with me but almost always put everything back. Also, I always feel bad about it so I return all the clothes back myself to their original location. I feel bad leaving all the items for the dressing room attendant.

Depending on how observant you are or where you shop, you may have noticed that the stores are full of things that appear to be from the 1990's. Everything from Nirvana t-shirts, plaid pants, flannel, and dresses covered in daisies. When I step into a store I'm instantly reminded of my high school wardrobe. I was born in the eighties, but the nineties is when I was in middle school and high school. These were the years where I was a teenage and discovering bands like Green Day and Soundgarden. So are these clothes geared towards me or the next generation? I'm confused. haha

Which ever it is, I enjoy looking at them and remembering my teen years. I still recall all the plaid pants I owned and how about Jnco jeans? Those horrible horrible large pocketed jeans! Cody and I joke about how we "need" to dress now that we are moving to Portland. Again, joke about it. We aren't going to change a thing. However, I am buying some type of rain boots.

My new to me thrifted American Eagle flannel shirt.
Recently Cody did find some nice flannel shirts. I scored a cute one from the thrift store the other day, even though it is originally from American Eagle. I find it so funny that it's from American Eagle. Boy, have they come a long way with their clothing! When I was in high school only the preppy kids shopped there. Now, American Eagle sells Doc Martens. (MIND BLOWN!) When I was in high school, the kids that wore the American Eagle clothes picked on the kids that wore Doc Martens. I just find it ironic and a bit awesome really.

Styles from all different eras come and go and come back again. I don't claim any style that's for sure. I just buy what I like, what I think looks good, and what I can find that actually fits! :) I don't want to ever let my age dictate what I wear. Most of the time I buy second hand anyway. I will probably always kinda be stuck in the nineties. hahaha I leave you with the Portlandia song, The Dream Of The 90s...

All the clothes I featured on the fashion board are from Kohls. View their 90s Grunge page HERE.
And just in case you want to know 30 ways to wear a flannel shirt, read this. haha
