Balenciaga Rosabotanica

Balenciaga Rosabotanica is a very earthy fragrance that I will always associate with my trip to Shanghai. The scent reminds me of being in the Shanghai botanical garden filled with exotic flowers and plants that exude a mixture of different scents. China is known for the country’s elaborate gardens that are thousands of years old, created by royal emperors and imperial families. These gardens emphasize balance since many of the structures are built small, so the gardens are not overpowered. The Shanghai botanical garden, the biggest garden in China, and the Yu Garden are full of foreign trees, roses, and plants not familiar to other areas of the world. I could smell the wood of the bonsai trees to the multitude of roses and magnolias. Walking through the gardens each scent could be detected; one plant did not overpower all the others, very much like the fragrance of Balenciaga Rosabotanica.

Balenciaga Rosabotanica Fragrance review

Balenciaga Rosabotanica exudes an exotic aroma that is not the conventional sweet rose scent but with a foreign twist from the spicy and bitter middle notes. The strong scent opens up with fig leaves and spicy rose. Then middle notes of grapefruit, pink pepper, and spicy cardamom can be detected in the scent. Cardamom is the world’s third most expensive spice. It is known for being used to make herbal teas and used for old Chinese medicine, grown in the Middle East and Asian areas. On top of that, the grapefruit scent reminds me of Shanghai because of the Chinese fruit called pomelo. It tastes like a sweet grapefruit with a tangy under taste. This perfectly describes the fragrance because the scent combines sweet and zesty aromas. The base notes are comprised of woodsy notes of ceder, white amber, vetiver, and patchouli. Since the scent is comprised of many elements it provides an exotic experience each time, letting you uncover all of the hidden notes.
