What is a 10/40 worldview?
“The 10/40 Window is a geographical area of the world roughly between 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude. The significance of this area is that it is home to over 4.5 billion people, over 8,000 different people groups, and some of the largest groups of unreached people in the entire world. More than 80% of the world’s poorest people live in the 10/40 window. It is an area that many people are taking intentional steps to pray for and reach out to the people who live there. For our first stop, my daughter chose China. After reading through the Dynasties and ending with the Peoples Republic, we meet the people of China. The people of this country are as numerous and varied as the land itself. One of the people groups are the Ladakhi who live in the cold desert up in the Himalayan Mountains. Jesus was first brought to these people by missionaries traveling the Silk Route. Suggested ways to pray for the Ladakhis are given followed by discussion questions that help the reader take elements of the stories and apply them to their own life.
Finally an activity is given to go with each country. For China it was “Name the Dynasty”.
After China we were draw into Iran by Yasmin’s heart stopping tale , the perseverance of Hao in Vietnam, courage of Thao in Laos, the steadfastness of Sanjoy in Bangleseh and the faith of Manisha in Nepal.
Though this study is broken down into 16 weeks it’s easily adaptable to go as fast or as slow as is best for your family. I can confidently say that it will hold the attention of all ages. Once my daughter and I started, we did not want to close down our computer!
