Jo Waterhouse

Of late

A short update. I have been away being an artist and stuff a lot recently, which has been dead good.

It was a real pleasure to work with the International Village Shop recently - or, as it's now called, the internationational Village Shop. It's a really great project, certainly worth a look.

And I was also lucky enough to go and work with Inland Festival in Redruth, more on that later, but for now let us appreciate Devon and Cornwall - they are the most beautiful of places.

My boy in the sun at Portreath

I had an early morning swim in the sea pool at Bude, by myself, in the rain - it was immense.

Redruth is an incredible town - it has the most listed buildings outside of Bath, like this beauty above, and was once incredibly wealthy. Not any more, now it is scrubby and a bit odd: I like towns like that, it feels like you could do what you want. No one's going to try and charge you to breathe like in London, or get upset by your shed like they might in Ashwell.

Redruth has it's fair share of goths and cyberpunks, and strange specialist shops - like a big tropical fish store and an antique shop selling largely VHS tapes which appeared to be closing down. Sad.

It has a strong creative scene, fed by Falmouth Uni nearby and the festival was truly brilliant - I hope it will run again, and if it does you must go.
