Our stay of the week – The Rectory, the Cotswolds

Nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds in three acres of immaculate walled gardens is The Rectory Hotel, a grand Georgian country house. Perfecting the tricky blend of welcoming luxury, the interiors are elegant yet cosy, the food is delicious yet unpretentious and the service is friendly without being overwhelming.

With a home-away-from-home feel, this spot is charmingly rustic with wooden beams, rows of muddy wellies and 12 uniquely decorated rooms. You’ll be able to spend your day exploring the beautiful countryside or browsing the antique shops in Tetbury before you tuck into renowned British dishes in the beautiful dining room, sink into a comfy sofa by the crackling fireplace or sip an aperitif overlooking the manicured lawns.

You’ll be able to tuck into fresh, local and seasonal British dishes created by Peter Fairclough and his team. With a commitment for local produce, the ingredients are often so fresh they’ve been foraged from the hotel’s own doorstep.
And for a spot of light refreshment, the hotel bar’s mis-matching arm chairs and comfy sofas provide the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing tipple.

All of the 12 room have big windows overlooking the stunning gardens and are decorated with the same soothing, pale colour scheme. Despite common themes, each room holds its own individual character and original details with a mixture of antique furnishings and modern amenities.

The Rectory Hotel is ideally situated in a triangle of pretty market towns. Head to Tetbury to browse the antique shops, wander the farmers market at Nailsworth, or head further afield to the World Heritage Site of Bath, with its historical sites, beautiful architecture and great shopping. Alternatively set off on foot from the hotel and explore the surrounding countryside which has plenty of walking and cycling trails.

We’re offering a stay in a Cleeve, Crickely, Belas or Randwick room with a three-course dinner for two at The Rectory Restaurant and breakfast. We’ve also included a Bamford Organic gift, which includes germanium oil, camomile soap, a soap dish and geranium bath salts to help you de-stress long after your stay here.
