Oil Pulling – miracle panacea?

Imagine oil in your mouth. Doesn't this gross you out just at the thought of it? Well, this is the miracle cure to all, apparently.
Have you heard about oil pulling? Have you tried it? I have. I have been oil pulling from past 6-7 months.
What is it and my experience so far
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurveda practice which involves swishing oil in your mouth for 5-20 mins. More time the better. This is supposed to pull all bacteria, toxins and parasites from your body, a way of detoxifying your body and improving your health. Sounds too good to be true? Yes it does. How can just oil pulling cure all of your diseases?
It hasn't been proven whether it does or not, but it is being considered for dental hygiene. Oil in the mouth – takes care of all dental problems – this I can believe.
But I have a something to add to this. I used to have acne around my jaw area. Whether it is oil pulling or something else (which I don’t know about) has worked wonders – I have never seen a single sign of breakout since I started oil pulling. However, I do have whiteheads on my forehead, which is the same. So, I can say this indeed is not a cure to all, but it is not only dental hygiene either. Perhaps, if I could somehow swish oil beneath my head pulling out any bacteria or toxins from there, I wouldn't have whiteheads either – hahaha. Never mind.
How do I oil pull?
You can always create your own blend of mixing 2-3 oils. You can also add your favorite essential oil if the smell really bothers you. It is suggested to use sesame oil. However, I use only coconut oil. We use it for cooking, so; I know I cannot tolerate any other oil in my mouth except coconut. Make sure it should be unrefined, extra virgin. I use Nutiva’s organic extravirgin coconut oil which I bought from iherb. It is preferable to do this on an empty stomach – in the morning. However, if I am running late, I would do it in the evenings. Just take 2-3 tsps of oil, squish it for 20-30 mins. or more if I can.
It should turn milky white (that means it has pulled all toxic and bacteria) and then spit it in the bin or flush it. Don’t throw it in the sink as the oil can solidify which can clog the drain. I finish by rinsing my mouth with salty water and then brushing/flossing as usual. It feels so fresh and clean!
Also, be careful not to swallow any oil as this is all toxic! If somehow you feel you are unable to continue, just spit it out and try again. But, until it turns milky white, it is not worth it to spit out. For beginners, start with smaller quantity of oil, this way you won’t feel like swallowing it down your throat. It is fine to how much oil you use. Whatever quantity suits you is good.
I do it once every day and looking at the results i.e. amazing whiter teeth, pinkier gums and of course the acne, I want to increase it to two times a day. I will start on that very soon.
I highly recommend you start doing this now, it is the most wonderful home remedy I have ever found. Whether It works to cure all or not, but it sure is a miracle for my teeth (trust me when I say this - I drink at least 9 cups of white tea (Indian chai) every single day {I am an addict} & thank God I found this amazing oil pulling trick, it takes care of it all - not even a hint of brown tea stain) and who knows it might benefit others in different ways – like it did to me with my acne.
Also, I should mention that I haven’t fallen sick even once (touch wood) Jsince I started this. What more reasoning do you need!!! Go get started on it already! And let me know how it worked out for you.
All the best!
