As soon as the temperatures cool down and the air starts to get dry my skin becomes extremely temperamental. I have to work extra hard to keep my skin smooth and moisturized {thank god for this and these} because my combination skin is prone to dryness, peeling, and blotchy patches with cold/dry temps. My first steps are always my clarisonic, these peel pads {to keep my skin tone even}, followed by a moisturizer; but to ensure that my skin stays smooth/even all day I rely solely on a good foundation.

I’ve never been a dedicated beauty addict. I always stick to the basics and pretty much wear the same look every day. However, I am really picky when it comes to foundation {the basis of a fresh face!} and have quite the collection in my makeup bag. Nordstrom’s beauty department is always my first stop when I’m looking to add some new products to my routine and their new foundations are just what I need to obtain a fresh look this season. I love that they make it easy to compare all of your favorite designers {I rely on Laura Mercier, NARS, Bobbi Brown and Dior} in one place and it’s easy to find new brands to add to your day to night look. For fall, I’m loving a really fresh face highlighted by a slightly smokey eye and bold lips. I’ve been doing some research on new foundations to combat my consistent issue with winter skin and have highlighted my top 4 below:

NARS Sheer Matte Foundation is designed to enhance your natural complexion without masking it. This lightweight formula glides on effortlessly, covering imperfections and evening out skin tone for a soft finish that allows your skin’s natural beauty to shine though. The sheer matte application helps to control oil and shine throughout the day. The perfect amount of balance and coverage!

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation is a long wear, oil free foundation that blurs the line between your natural skin and makeup. This is a two part formula where the color pigment rests at the bottom of the tube while reflective water floats to the top. This requires you to shake the bottle before every application to ensure that the pigment blends together to create a fresh color every time. I’ve always been a big fan of LM’s sheer foundation and love the balance between coverage and moisture in this product – sounds interesting!

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup is infused with the brands Perfectionist serum which instantly brightens and perfect your complexion by giving you a hydration boost and reducing the look of lines. I love that this product really focuses on your skin, rather than the coverage. A good base if you tend to use additional makeup like a concealer.

Dior ‘Diorskin’ Star Studio Foundation sounds like a dream! It is a weightless, fluid formula that uses a new generation of hollow silica beads to capture and diffuse light, neutralize color imbalances, and reduce the appearance of dark areas, pigment spots or red areas – instantly making your skin more luminous and even. Sign me up!
