Buffalo Gals

Happy Friday!! :-D

I’m starting off the weekend with a post about a specific trend I never thought I’d be particularly fond of: buffalo plaid. To me, the bold, check print on harsh, woolen fabrics has always looked a little hokey to me. A bit rough around the edges and possibly only appropriate for a bonfire. However, recently, I have begun to see the light and have been drawn to new ways of styling the pattern. Surprisingly, I’ve noticed that it can look effortlessly chic by keeping the rest of your outfit uncomplicated.

Today, I thought I would share a few of my favorite buffalo plaid items that are currently on the market. First, we have these super cozy looking indoor/outdoor slippers from C.Wonder. It was love at first sight when I ran across these! Not only are they fall/winter appropriate due to the faux shearling lining but, they are hard soled and can be worn as “shoes” should the desire strike you to head out. True, you might not where these to a nice evening out at a restaurant…etc but, they are a step up from bunny slippers if you are going to the grocery store or having movie night (at home or theater) with a friend. I feel that these would be more versatile than they look and I can just imagine my feet being propped up by the fireplace in them. A great find!

I’m the kind of person that doesn’t mind spending a decent amount of money on outerwear that I know I’ll be wearing for years to come. I have my eye on this jacket from ShopBop that features a monochrome check fabric. I think it’s a really nice touch that some of the checks are marled so the look isn’t as stark and that it’s a very wearable form of buffalo plaid. Could be dressed up or down & it doesn’t get better than a moto inspired collar/zip; one of my favorite figurations!

Currently falling all over this midi shirt dress from Threadsence. It’s adorable and outdoorsy without going full-on lumberjack. I’ll admit that the side slit is a little much for me and should this dress be purchased, I would personally have it sewn down quite a few inches! That being said, I think the overall silhouette is nice. The buffalo plaid, surprisingly, isn’t overbearing on this dress and I appreciate that it was made with a black and white version instead of the traditional red and black/grey. Major brownie points that it pairs well with booties and that it’s even a great buy for breastfeeding mom’s like me because it has button closure.

Daisy Faye Designs is a company that I have only recently discovered on Instagram. When fall rolled around and Kim started listing buffalo plaid infinity scarves, well… the rest is history. These are just so cute and an ultra easy accessory to spruce up an otherwise basic ensemble. They are a muted, flannel material, are double layered, and can be worn as a hood/snood also. I just think they are fabulous and fun! Not to mention, they come in a pink/black combo as well as a brown/black.

So those, are my fantastic four, buffalo check favorites! I’m so glad I changed my mind about this print. It’s not gingham and it’s not a true variegated plaid either. Do you like/dislike this design? How would you wear it?

Check out the inspiration photos below and have a great weekend! <3 Thanks for reading!
