Easy Beaded Necklace DIY

I have had so many DIY ideas floating in my head for months now without being able to execute any of them. I finally had a few spare moments of free time last night and decided to make myself a little treat. I was inspired by the movie "Now and Then". As a girl, I am sure many of you watched that movie time and time again at sleepovers. There is a necklace that Teeny gives Samantha that she rips off and ties it around her wrist, and all I remember is wanting a bracelet that I could share with my best friend just like it. It was just a beaded bracelet on a string, and I made my own version with silk cord and colored seed beads. This is so easy, and if you make 2 or 3 you can even give them as a gift for christmas! I made 2 and I love layering them with a simple tshirt or blouse.

Supplies

silk cord in a size 5 or smaller (ignore the size and material in the photo, I ran out of the silk cord I actually used)

seed beads in a multitude of colors

sharp scissors

step no. 01 : unravel the cord from the cardboard packaging and tie the end of the cord into a slip knot. This way your beads don't fall off, and when you are ready to tie it off it will easy come undone.

Step no. 02 : begin to string your beads onto the cord. Use a nice mix of larger and smaller beads and switch up the patterns to whatever feels natural. Don't try and be too precise or create repeating patterns, mix it up!

Step no. 03 : keep adding beads until you have the length you would like. Since we aren't using any type of clasp, just make sure its big enough to fit over your head comfortably. Leave about 2 inches on either end and tie it off with a double knot. Since silk cord can be a little slippery if you want you can add a tiny dab of glue over the knot to secure it

This can get really addicting! Its so easy to make, and just mixing different colors together can be really fun, and to be honest quite therapeutic and meditative. Ive already made myself a whole bunch, and since they are so inexpensive to make you can give these away or keep them as gifts for your best friend or for the upcoming holidays! Have fun and let me know if you decide to make these!
