Canvas By YOY

Not only is it a piece of artwork, it can also function as a chair to sit on! Canvas is a series of two-dimensional wall art furniture by Japanese design studio YOY. Each lightweight furniture piece is made of a wooden and aluminum frame, covered with a stretched fabric. The surface of the fabric is given canvas-like textures and screen-printed with the drawing of a chair.

Each picture frame may be hung on the wall, or propped against a wall to be used as actual seating. The elastic fabric when sat on, will stretch and conform to a person’s shape. This hanging furniture is available in three different sizes: a single person chair, a wider armchair, and a two person loveseat.

It is probably not be the most comfortable chair for long term seating, but Canvas will come in really handy when you need extra seating. You simply need to remove it from the wall and prop it against a wall. What an innovative concept!
