5 hairstyle hacks

About one week ago I spent 8 hours(!!!) at the hairdresser and you can imagine, that we talked a lot about…of course hair!
During this conversation I found out that there are a few things I thought that they were right, but they’re lies. Hair lies.
As a result of this discussion I wanted to share these secrets with you so today I share with you:

5 Hair Lies

1. air dry hair is the best.
I always thought, that hairdryers are totally bad for the hair and the hair have to dry completely naturally in the air, which is wrong.
Air dry is bad for your hair and it has something to do with the pH of the water.
Water has a pH of 7.3 and hair has a pH of 7.0.
This small difference causes that the water that settles in my hair, dry them out and the pigments get removed.
The healthiest way is to use good hair care products that provide the hair with moisture and then use the hair dryer in a good distance to blow-dry the hair and use heat protection.

2. Dying your hair is always a bad idea
That’s correct, but only conditionally!
There are special hair colors that won’t lighten the hair but they don’t harm your hair, eg. directions.
The are just zero harmful! Then there are also hair colors like Elumen, which is even good for your hair!
It builds it up even after bleaching and bring it back to balance. However Elumen is not permanent!

3. the exposure time
There is a exposure time, which should be maintained, because otherwise the oxidation after this exposure becomes darker. So if you are not careful dying your hair it can get darker, instead of lighter.
Anyway the best idea for such things is to go to the hairdresser or just make ombre :)

4. Using cling film.
This is also wrong, but many girls think, that the color works better if you put cling film around it, but color needs oxygen in order to ‘unfold’ and cling film harms that effect. So better do it without the plastic wrap :)

5. the thing with the sequence
this is not really a lie, but it’s still unclear:
In what order do I use the products after washing and before styling?
So first you use hair care products (leave-in products!), maybe dry rub again, then maybe styling products and finally heat protection!
If the heat protection has been worked while blow-drying, then dry hair needs no heat protection anymore, so you can just straighten them!

So, I hope you enjoyed the post and a big thank you to Andi (Icono) for explaining me everything so patiently :)
