Cheese and Tees

On President’s Day, Quentin and I went down to Chelsea Market to visit with Nathan, one of my former coworkers and the current manager of Lucy’s Whey. I remember being so shocked when Nathan told me he’d be leaving our health policy nonprofit to pursue his love of cheese. Cheese. But I was also terribly happy for him because he was so passionate about his decision.

It was great seeing Nathan in his element at Lucy’s Whey. He can cut a perfect 1/2 lb. slice of cheese without weighing it (that’s an enviable skill among cheesemongers). He’s also hilarious and writes a food and movie blog called CineMunch that I highly recommend. And he knows exactly what to eat with any and every cheese. He is literally a Cheese Whisperer. While Nathan maintains he is a purist and usually eats his cheese sans condiment, he recommend we try a peppercorn goat cheese, paired with tomato jam and a simple crusty bread. Q and I tried it that afternoon with a little Malbec, and it was the best snack we’ve had in a LONG time.

Nathan made the perfect suggestions. I wasn’t excited about eating tomato jam, but it’s actually very good, especially with the goat cheese. And the wine just brought all the flavors together. Quentin and I munched on cheese during our business meeting (with each other) late that afternoon. After much deliberation, talking to family and friends, and a lot of prayer, I’ve decided to spend more of my time marketing the Tallawah Collective brand, which means I’m going to hold off on fully launching Feisty Society for right now.

I’d planned to have a full Feisty Society collection this Spring, but it costs a lot of money to start a clothing company, and with our wedding a few short months away, we need to be really smart about where we’re spending. So for now, I’m focusing on BLOG & COMPANY and on helping Quentin make Tallawah Collective a household name. The world still needs a positive and inspiring fashion brand for female creatives, so you’re definitely going to be seeing more from Feisty Society in the future. I can definitely promise you that. Seeing Nathan on Monday reminded me that all things are possible, even if they take a little time to get going. This will all happen in the right time. I’m anxious to see how this new plan will work out going forward, but I’m confident that I’m making the right decision. We’ll see what happens next!
