I’m that parent.

You know the one that allows their toddler use their iphone to watch cartoons and play with apps so that they behave and finish their meal.

What’s that? You texted me? Sorry, I didn’t see the text. Or the missed call. I also didn’t take a picture of that amazing thing that just happened (perfect for instagram) because IF I PULL MY PHONE AWAY FROM MY TODDLER when he’s doing his thing….all HELL breaks loose. We’re talking full blown, epic proportion MELT DOWN.

And so was the case when I was eating lunch at one of my favorite places in Modena. My son was watching something on my phone and then…. she came in.

In her full super stylish mom glory, complete with a loose braid, hidden wedge sneakers and a total blasé cool vibe.

I’ve been holding onto her pictures for WAY TOO LONG, I’ve been avoiding putting them on the blog as part of my Real Mom Street Style Series, because I lost the used envelope that I hastily used to take down her info instead of writing myself a note on my phone.

There was no way I could pull the phone away from him and not have him go into a tantrum, so I just used what I had. I chose to avoid a toddler meltdown over the blog and what I get is a missed opportunity!!! (but a happy kid!)

The Mystery Girl

Her name? I can’t remember (but I feel like it was something so cool, like Michelle but different)

Her super website that sells designer children’s things? Again, I have no idea….WHERE did I put that used envelope

The number of languages she speaks since she’s from some country in Northern Europe that I also can’t remember? …..No clue, but we’re talking 3-4 languages!

The Reason She Dressed

I’m not sure why she was out and about, but I met her having lunch with her man and little girl at my favorite tigella place. I will eventually do a whole post about Tigellas which are SUPER YUMMY streetfood found in this part of Italy.

What She Wore

What I DO know is that her shoes are Ash and her bag is Proenza Schouler.

Not a cheap bag, you can find it here for $1,150 (certainly our mystery girl has good taste!), hurry though (if you have the $) it’s the last one available!

The Hidden Wedge Sneaker Trend ….

oh believe it. It’s HERE TO STAY

This sneaker-wedge runner is by-far one of the most well-known designs of the contemporary footwear brand Ash, since it is a pretty similar design to the well-known hidden wedge runner of Isabel Marant *cough* *cough* copy *ahem* *cough* (read Isabel Marant’s Sneaker Wedge and All Her Copiers – essentialesse.com)

If you LOVE these Ash hidden wedge sneakers, you can find a few great discounted pairs here, including black and silver, just silver, and my personal fav for Spring peach and teal.

Now, I have to admit, I wasn’t keen on this whole wedge-runner trend. Is it a runner? is it a heal? Is it a wedge? is it a basketball shoe? What the heck is it?

I just didn’t understand, but she looks so COOL in them, doesn’t she? It is ridiculous how these update an otherwise simple look into the super chic stratosphere.

Now I know what you’re thinking…..

Those are soooooo Fall 2013, and you’re right, however, they will also be Fall 2014. In my usual Fashion Foresight style I’ve gone ahead and done some investigating to see if this trend is going to survive, BEFORE I get myself a pair.

According to Fashion Bomb Daily, out of 780 people polled almost 70% said they were NOT done with their wedges! This is a trend that is NOT GOING ANYWHERE!

And, here’s the news I actually really like this pair by Steve Madden ! I love the camel color, the slightly pointed toe (which is perhaps a little more flattering and feminine than Ash) and the way they aren’t so bulky at the top.

But Baby It’s Cold Outside

If you follow my blog you know that I am from Toronto, Canada and have only been living in Italy for the last 6 years. Now here’s the thing, I kind of suffered while living in Canada because I HATE THE COLD.

In fact, in Italy, I often get asked “What kind of Canadian are you?” I wear thermal tights when other people are in t-shirts! ….The Answer?

Not a very good one, that’s why I moved away.

I was worried that it was getting to late to share with you this Mystery Girl’s cool style since the spring is now in full bloom in most parts of the Northern Hemisphere, but alas poor Toronto, Canada is GETTING SNOW today!

So in honor of my home and native land I wanted to share Mystery Girls great style to inspire a few last warm and wintery looks.
