How to protect your online identity
Today I shared an article on my personal Facebook page about Naoki Hiroshima and how he lost his $50,000 Twitter handle @N. Learn how to protect your online identity.
Yup, he had a rare Twitter handle that was just one letter. It was highly coveted and Naoki knew that hackers wanted to take it from him.
In my opinion, if you had something that was worth $50,000, you would do everything you could to protect that property through online security. Well, you can read the article as to why Naoki let his Twitter handle go to the hackers.

After reading what happened to Mat Honan, it was concluded that even though I don’t have a Twitter handle worth $50k, I did spend a lot of my own money investing in my online property (my blog) and would hate for my information to fall in the wrong hands.

So, what can you do to protect your online identity?
Avoid custom domains as your login email address.
Be smart about choosing passwords. Do not use the same password for all of your accounts!
If you are on iCloud, back up regularly.
Use a recovery email address on your accounts that isn’t the same prefix as your other email addresses.
Ex. [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]If you value your online identity, I would suggest making the changes today.
