Halcyon Duck Dog Food – All Natural Dog Food

We take our pets’ health very seriously. As a former dog trainer, I learned a lot about foods, treats, etc. that really disturbed me and made it a point to raise awareness for exactly what people are feeding their dogs. They are part of our family. Do we really want to feed them fillers and animal by-products? I know we didn’t!

For our review, we received samples of their new Halcyon Duck Dog Food.

Duck is a premium meat. Because of this, it is also the most expensive, but they offer a variety of other recipes as well, so if cost is a concern there are options. Duck is great for pups with sensitive stomachs that may have challenges digesting other meats like beef or chicken. The duck is cage-free, of course.

I was definitely intrigued because we have a Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff), so digestive issues pop up frequently. Sometimes we can pinpoint the trigger, sometimes we can’t! So to know the Halcyon offers an all natural dog food that is made with a meat that is easy to digest, human-grade, and contains ample nutrients, it definitely sounded like the perfect food for Caprice!

It was my first time preparing a dehydrated food, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Honestly, when it’s dry it kind of reminds me of oatmeal. I could clearly see some of the healthy ingredients like the chia. After pouring in one of the sample packs I suspected even after adding the water it wouldn’t be sufficient for our 125lb pup! I did confirm giant breeds should receive 2 1/2-3 cups (dry).

Talk about easy to prepare! I added the other three packets and added the recommended amount of water. Stir it up and allow it to hydrate for about 5 minutes. That’s it! Then it’s meal time! Caprice was excited to try it as soon as I started making it, and I was excited for her to try it!

What did she think? Well, she gobbled it up, so it must have been good! Unfortunately, because the sample I received wasn’t even a full-size meal for her, I can’t really give any feedback on any benefits she received. I know I feel good about feeding her a food of that quality, and I believe if she ate it regularly she would definitely benefit!
