The Pinterested Parent

And The Oscar Goes To…

Award winning actresses of our time, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett & my daughter.

Our little princess is many things. She is smart, funny, sweet & sometimes a little bit cunning. Toddlers are smart. They absorb everything. There is a reason we call them little sponges. At this age they are building their vocabulary, embracing their imaginations & creativity & they are also learning what makes their parents tick. They study us, emulate us & in many cases they play us.

My daughter knows just how to strike a chord with mommy & daddy. She uses hugs, crocodile tears and her new found acting chops to try to manipulate us. It is even getting difficult for me to be able to differentiate between her real tears & her fake ones. Her excuses have become more convincing as well. Most of her performances come at bedtime. She has hundreds of acts lined up to keep her from sleeping.

Act 1: The Heart To Heart Hour
“Mama, I have a problem.”
“What is it?”
“Something is bothering me.”
“What’s the matter, baby?”
“I have a big problem.”
“Goodnight Mai.”

Act 2: The Great Potty Performance
“Wait, I need to go to the potty.” (Funny, she never need to potty during the day.) Here she has got me. She knows that I have to take her the potty while we are training. She figured this out quickly.
Ok, quick let’s go potty.

Act 3: The Sick Show
“Mama, I need juice.”
No juice before bed.
“Cough cough hack hack” (Fake forced coughs of course) I (cough) need juice (hack) for my throat.”

Scenes From Next Week’s Episodes…

The I’m So Hungry
Cover My Feet
I Need To Rock
I Want One More Kiss
Rub My Tummy

Catch all of these live performances nightly at about 8 o’clock.
