Classroom Fever

In Wisconsin we have had an exceptionally COLD winter this year! (and I know we are not alone in the obnoxious winter) I dread hearing the "beep" on our speaker system coming on telling the students that we have yet another day of indoor recess. So to warm things up a little bit in the speech room we have gotten out of our chairs and are taking full advantage of every inch of our room! I have been conducting therapy "as usual" for the first 20 minutes or so, but for the last few minutes with my articulation groups we have been doing something very different that the kids (KDG-6th grade) are loving! We have been using FitDeck during therapy! My artic groups typically have 2-3 students in them so in order to give each student a focused practice "session" with me, their favorite SLP ;), I have one student work individually with me for 60 seconds while the other 1-2 students do an exercise activity from the App! Then after 60 seconds, we switch (students and activities)! Here's a screenshot of the FitDeck Junior App on my Ipad!

Trying my best to be fiscally responsible (while I am working on planning a wedding) I chose to go the paperless route and purchased the FitDeck Junior App-which I loved so much I purchased the FitDeck Pilates App for myself! However, I think the actual "deck" would be wonderful to have instead of the app during therapy because that way you still have access to your Ipad to use with your student who is getting the one on one focused practice time with you. If you don't want to spend ANY money then you are in luck because FitDeck has a FREE download of some of the FitDeck Junior cards! These cards/Apps are so versatile they could be worked into any therapy session/classroom activity!
