Cusco. Die viertgrößte Stadt Limas und das Base Camp für so ziemlich jeden der vor hat Machu Picchu zu besuchen, eines der neuen Weltwunder. Der Post über unseren Trip zu Machu Picchu selbst kommt die Tage, heute geht es um Cusco selbst, mit all dem was die Stadt zu bieten hat. Am Morgen angekommen, hatten wir uns gleich auf den Weg ins prachtvolle Aranwa Hotel gemacht. Das alte Gebäude ist sehr luxuriös, aber gleichzeitig charmant und befindet sich mitten in der Altstadt, nahe an allem was man denn gerne anschauen wöllte or könnte. Die Zimmer selbst hatten ein Gefühl von Nostalgie, traumhaft dekoriert, mit originalen Kunstwerken im ganzen Haus verteilt. Cusco ist relativ hoch gelegen, weshalb einige Besucher Probleme mit dem Atmen und Kopfschmerzen haben. Das Aranwa Hotel ist darauf jedoch mit Sauerstoff und kostenfreiem Coca Tee vorbereitet.

Nur zwei Straßen weiter befindet sich der Größte der vielen Plätze, der Plaza de Armas. Beschmückt mit zwei wunderschönen Kathedralen, fantastischer Architektur der naheliegenden Häuser und Tradition in der Luft, kreiert durch Frauen die in traditioneller Kleidung umherschreiten, mit Kindern auf dem Rücken und Lamababies in den Armen. Das optimale Accessoir der Stadt ist der Himmel, gefüllt von “himmlischen” Wolken, ha.

In Peru allgemein ist das Essen schlichtweg fantastisch, aber als wir in Cusco waren hatten wir auch ausgezeichnetes Essen im Uchu Restaurant, wo wir Klassiker wie Ceviche und Leche de Tigre genossen, zu einem sehr fairen Preis.

Ich hätte all das nie so fest halten können, hätte ich nicht Nikon’s 24mm f/1.4 und 24-70mm f/2.8 Objektive ausgeliehen. Ich hatte meine von Borrow Lenses, ich denke nicht, dass die nach Deutschland verleihen, aber grundlegend ist ausleihen einfach ne super Option, wenn man ein bestimmtes Objektiv für einen beschränkten Zeitraum braucht.

Ich hoffe ich hab euch ein wenig die Augen geöffnet und euch eventuell an einem Trip nach Cusco interessiert – in dem Fall hoffe ich, dass ihr so viel Spaß haben werdet wie wir. Solltet ihr noch nicht überzeugt sein, dann wartet nur auf den Machu Picchu Eintrag ;)

Cusco. The fourth biggest city in Lima, and the base camp for basically everyone who wants to visit one of the new wonders of the world – Machu Picchu. I’ll post about Machu Picchu itself soon, but Cusco is just as worthy of a post, with all the beauty it has to offer. We arrived in the morning and stayed at the magnificent Aranwa Hotel. The old structure is charming and luxurious, located in the old city of Cusco and close to everything you want to visit while in Cusco. The rooms had a romantic air to them, and original art was to be found through the entire building. As Cusco is very high, some people struggle with breathing and headaches, but Aranwa has oxygen available for breathing restrictions, and offers complimentary coca tea, a local gem, for the headaches.

Just two blocks down the street you will find the biggest of the many plazas, the Plaza de Armas. Two beautiful cathedrals, wonderful architecture of the surrounding houses, and a feeling of tradition, with women walking around in traditional outfits, carrying their babies on the back and holding baby lamas in their arms. The city’s most precious accessories are the wonderful clouds, which make all the landscapes all so much prettier.

This goes for Peru in general, but the food was absolutely bonkers. We had lunch at Uchu, and ordered some classics like Ceviche and Leche de Tigre. It was a beautiful atmosphere in a little backyard outside, and very reasonably priced.

I couldn’t have captured all of Cusco’s beauty without the Nikon 24mm f/1.4 and 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses that I had borrowed from Borrow Lenses. I’ve mentioned it in a previous post, but especially for traveling and other time-restrained events, borrowing lenses is amazing. I usually don’t necessarily need a professional wide angle or zoom lens, but in this case I could not have done without it.
