DIY: succulent planter from toothbrush holder

I finally gave in and bought succulents. Call it internet peer pressure, if you like. But the truth is, they’re really good looking and low maintenance. What more could you ask for from a plant? Ok, maybe colorful blooms, but I’ll make this compromise. Since succulents are so tiny (at least when you first buy them), I thought they’d be perfect for this old toothbrush holder I’ve been meaning to repurpose. It’s nice, white ceramics, but the rest of the set broke and now it was just sitting there. Of course, some gold spray paint was in order…

What you need:

  • ceramic toothbrush holder
  • gold spray paint
  • masking tape
  • soil
  • succulents

Succulent planter how to:

Start by masking part of your toothbrush holder with tape, then spray paint it gold. When the paint is completely dry, remove the tape. Start filling the future planter with soil – I used the lower hole for this, which is also good for drainage. Plant a succulent in each hole and enjoy!
