When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn't know is that Nick's family home happens to look like a palace, that she'll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia's most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick's formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should--and should not--marry.

Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider's look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich.

Hey pretties! Today I have a review of the lovely Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. This review is long overdue because I’ve been meaning to rave about it ever since I finished it. My excuse is that it took me awhile to articulate my thoughts. Okay jk, I’ve just been too lazy. Crazy Rich Asians was nothing like I thought it would be. Every single page is filled with hooking drama that leaves your mind racing. When you read the synopsis, it sounds like any other k-drama. Poor girl meets rich boy blah blah blah. But don’t be fooled.

Kevin Kwan wrote this book in many perspectives from people all over the world. They are many little storylines that revolve around Rachel and Nick’s love life. Sounding confusing? Wasn’t at all. The extremely unique perspectives allowed for awesome dramatic irony which added so much to the story. All the little stories really helped intensify the drama. As expected, the page turning drama meant that the pace of the story was super fast. And I loved every bit of it!

Crazy Rich Asians managed to make me feel all the right emotions all the time. With the characters feeling so real, I was able to feel the story as though it was fact rather than fiction. I was angry at all the right characters but not to the point of frustration. The different relationships made my heart break, warm and feel all gooey. I literally can’t express how amazing this novel was.

If you take anything away from reading this, just know that Crazy Rich Asians was exceptional. Anyone who’s looking for an action-packed drama will love this. It brings you into the world of Asians like you never seen before. I can’t wait for the sequel, China Rich Girlfriend, which is being released next year. And better yet, what else is coming soon, THE MOVIE! YES!

Tell me you love a good drama! What do you think about Crazy Rich Asians?
