LOTD: YSL Couture Palette 10 Lumieres Majorelle

Hallo!!
When I got these new YSL palettes in last week, I was quite excited, excited for that outstanding blue/ green palette - which might be shocking, because come on... when is the last time you have seen me feature or use anything colorful on the blog? And I had picked this palette out for myself... somehow the combination of everything is just super attractive to me.
I felt so inspired to use this palette - the YSL Couture Palette in 10 Lumieres Majorelle today, and I hope my LOTD did this palette justice under the circumstances... my hooded monolid lid, and just general lack of skills using such a colorful and bold palette.

(The new YSL Couture Palettes, in case you haven't know by now, are a new range of eyeshadow palettes - now already available, and they are inspired by the YSL - Mondrain dresses... and I just want to point out that these palettes are better in terms of both quality and color compared to their older formula of eyeshadow palettes.) The color range is impressive, and you are bound to find a palette (or 3.. in my case) to suit your fancy.

Here's a close up of the palette - 5 shades:

the base shade which reminds me a luxe denim - mid warm blue with golden sparkles
a shimmery silvery sky blue
lime green
golden teal
middle shade of dark navy blue with seriously gorgeous sparkles

So you see you can go either quite blue cool or warm bright green or a combo of both in this palette.

swatches - I used the applicator to apply the colors on the back of my hand they are very smooth, fine and intense.

I did two looks with this palette - the first one I pretty much went a little crazy with trying to use the colors in the palette. And the second look is my version of a smokey deep blue eyelook. I didn't experience much fall out with these shadows (I did use a eyeshadow base) and they blend quite well. Again, I must stress that I haven't done a 'complicated colorful' look in ages and ages, and it somehow feels very strange to me. But I think I would wear this out for a themed party or event. And when I use brights like this, I definitely need to keep the rest of the face quite clean, but not pale... and also lashes and liners (to accentuate the eyes) is definitely necessary.

A quick step by step, by no means any form of tutorial... in the pictures below.

A close up - you can see the beautiful shimmers in this close up

Some selfies of the general overall look:

and this is the second look - I only used two shades in this simpler just a smokey navy blue look:

(I just used Bioderma to wipe off the eyeshadow from the earlier look instead of starting all over again)

Honestly, in a real life situation, I would wear the second look out... it's more in my comfort zone.

Overall, the Lumieres Majorelle is a stunning bright bold palette, while I might not use it much at all, but if I want something for a party... I would definitely consider it. I am glad I picked this and I hope you enjoyed this little rambly session as I did creating the look. As you can see in the very first pic in this entry, I did have two other more neutral palettes... reviews and applications of those beauties would be posted soon (in a couple of weeks!).

That's all, and have a great day ahead!
