Monthly beauty favorites: February

Purchased by Me

This post including my February monthly beauty favorites is LONG overdue! I can’t for the life of me refrain from buying *all the makeup*, so fortunately for you all I have quite a few new things to share.

From trying a CC cream to getting attached to Benefit’s Gimme Brow, I’m quite excited to begin talking about the beauty products I loved throughout last month. Keep reading to see quick reviews and swatches of my February favorites!

1. L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara- I promise I’m still planning to review this soon! My opinions change a lot between the time I first try a tube of mascara and when it’s almost finished, so I like to wait a few weeks to really get a feel. Until my review is up (which will be this week), I can say that I really enjoy this formula. It’s on the drier side- which I like- but not too dry that it take a million coats to adhere to your lashes. The only thing I’m unsure of is the brush, which hasn’t done much to “wing” or “fan” out my lashes (so far).

2. Lumene Time Freeze CC Anti-Age Color Correcting Cream in Light- I loved Lumene’s BB Cream, so I had high hopes for this. The finish isn’t as “dewy” as the BB cream, which I really like- plus it gives nice, natural coverage.

3. Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in Bare Light- Emily Eddington AKA Emilynoel83 did a quick review of this on her Beauty Broadcast Express channel, and I absolutely had to try it! It gives a really nice sheen to the skin, so it’s great if you’re like me and can’t stand highlighters with obvious shimmer or glitter. Bare Light looks kind of peachy on me, but for most light-medium skin tones it will probably lean more beige.

4. Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark- This little brow gel has worked wonders on my already full-ish eyebrows! After seeing so many statement brows on the NYFW runways, I really wanted to get into the habit of doing mine more. This has helped. See my full review and tutorial HERE.

5. Forever 21 Nail Polish in Blue Print- It’s somehow a lot easier to justify buying a $2.80 nail polish when you’re already getting something else from Forever 21… this polish in the shade Blue Print jumped out at me as the perfect shade of blue. It really is pretty! Sadly, it chips in two days, but I still wore this consistently over the course of two weeks in February.

6. NYX Baked Blush in Chiffon- I had eyed this shade since first seeing it on Ulta’s website awhile back, and when it finally came to stores I thought it was just as pretty. These baked blushes are all shimmery, but the effect is more “glowy” than anything. Despite really enjoying Chiffon (the color and formula is surprisingly nice and has great wear time for a baked product), I probably won’t purchase any of the other shades. More on this in a coming review.

7. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Eyeshadow Palette- Specifically, shades Satin Sheets, Garter Belt and Voulez-Vous. I’ve been loving these for a “daytime appropriate” smokey eye! I place Satin Sheets all over the lid and lower lash line, Garter Belt in the crease, and then smoke out the lower lash line with Voulez-Vous. I also usually apply Garter Belt to the lower lash line to help blend everything out- the matte helps balance out the shimmer. So pretty.

Swatches:

From L-R: Lumene CC cream in Light; Too Faced eyeshadows in Satin Sheets, Garter Belt, Voulez-Vous; NYX baked blush in Chiffon; Revlon Skinlights in Bare Light

Those are my February beauty favorites- anything here that you’ve also been loving?

Thanks so much for reading, and have a happy Tuesday!
