Review: Taya Beauty Amazon White Clay Thickening collection

Last month, I was sent quite a generous selection of the Taya Beauty Amazon White Clay Thickening hair collection (I knew I was being sent a sampling of products, but had no idea they would be all full-sized!). Taya Beauty is a new-to-me brand of hair products that are formulated free of sulfates, parabens, animal products, and animal testing.

I loved the idea of using raw, unprocessed ingredients in my hair routine- not to mention the promise of transformative results!- so I was tempted to give this collection a try. If you’re a fan of good-for-you hair products that smell ah-mazing, keep reading for my review of the Taya Beauty Amazon White Clay Thickening collection!

I’ll preface these reviews by saying I normally use drugstore shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. I do love the effect and smells that salon quality hair products have, but I’ve never felt the need to spend much money on them (I do think the more unmanageable your hair is, the more it might be necessary to spend $$$ on hair products). It makes me so happy that Taya Beauty offers a sampler set of this Amazon White Clay collection, which you can find HERE for $20.00- it’s nice to be able to try these out first without having to fork over lots of money.

OK, now time for reviews!

Amazon White Clay Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner ($20.00/10oz. each)- I really, really enjoyed using both of these together, and I actually just finished the conditioner last night! They smell great, plus my hair looks and feels shinier and healthier as a result of almost daily use (I try not to wash my hair every single day). The conditioner is supposed to be left in your hair for about 5 minutes, and my hair feels like SILK after I rinse it out!

Amazon White Clay Thickening Hair Spray ($24.00/8oz.)- I received two hair sprays: one aerosol, and one non-aerosal (see below). This one I wasn’t so much a fan of, as the scent smelled a little too much like alcohol… It works well and doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy, but I like the non-aerosol version more.

Amazon White Clay & Acacia Collagen Hair Plumper ($24.00/8oz.)- This is a mousse/hairspray all-in-one treatment. It requires some drying time if you’re using on dry hair (it’s very liquid-y), but I love the volume this gives my roots! I spray it all around my part, work it in with my fingers, and then give my hair a quick blow dry. It definitely adds a boost of volume, which is something my hair usually lacks.

Amazon White Clay Thickening Whipped Clay ($24.00/6oz.)- This whipped clay feels like amped-up mousse, and it’s really fun to use. Like the hair plumper above, I use this solely on my roots, though I can imagine it would work amazingly on shorter, styled hair (or for piece-y bangs, perhaps- it has amazing hold). A word of caution: this requires only a tiny amount! It looks like normal mousse, but only requires about half as much product.

Amazon White Clay Thickening Styling Creme ($22.00/6oz.)- I don’t normally use styling cremes, but tried this on my damp hair one morning before blow drying. I think it adds a bit of volume, though not a lot- I honestly didn’t see a huge difference. I did LOVE how it made my hair smell (a lot of these products, including the shampoo/conditioner, have that “salon” quality scent).

Amazon White Clay Thickening Hair Spray (non-aerosal) ($24.00/8oz.)- My fine hair really likes this lightweight, medium hold hair spray. It doesn’t leave it feeling crunchy (neither does the aerosol version, like I mentioned) or “heavy”, which is great.

Amazon White Clay Thickening Leave-In Mist ($22.00/6oz.)- I saved the best for last! I normally take showers at night, then sleep with wet/damp hair and actually style it in the morning. This leave-in treatment is one of my favorite products I was sent to try! When applied to damp hair post-shower, it makes it feel and look super soft, manageable, and shiny (and again, of course, I love the scent). I also think this treatment contributes to how bouncy and soft my hair feels throughout the day.

Overall: This Taya Beauty Amazon White Clay Thickening collection has some really nice hair products. I’m seriously considering purchasing the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in mist soon- those are my very favorites out of everything I was sent! I think I’d get more use out of some of the styling products if I had hair with more of a “style” (mine is long with long layers and side bangs), but they still worked well and definitely lived up to the “thickening” claims. Plus, I love knowing that all the ingredients are good-for-you and healthy!

Have you tried anything from Taya Beauty? Thanks for reading!
