Favorite Authors + The So-Called Homemaker

Every job has its own occupational hazards. I work in a library so I think it's safe to assume that the problem I encounter is my reading list keeps growing and growing. Not a bad problem to have unless you have all the time in the world to read. For the record, I don't. Several books come home with me a week and sit on my nightstand. And sit. And sit. Until I feel guilty and return them.

Having said that, there are a few authors that I will drop everything for and read. It doesn't matter what's going on, or what I'm in the middle of reading, I will gladly put those books aside for any books written by the following authors.

Jodi Picoult
I am currently in the middle of Leaving Time, her newest book. What I love most about Jodi is her ability to find a controversial topic and her ability to show it from multiple viewpoints. You can say you feel one way about an issue and all of a sudden you can see it from another viewpoint. My favorite book by her is My Sister's Keeper. If you have seen the movie, do yourself a favor and read the book. The ending is completely different, and as usual (in my opinion) the book is always better.

Elin Hildebrand
Thanks to Elin and her books, Nantucket is on my list of places to go. Most of her books are set on this beautiful island. I always fall in love with her characters and storylines.

Kristin Hannah
Kristin definitely has some tearjerkers. One of my favorite books was Night Road. Warning...it is a tough read for moms, especially those with teenagers.

Liane Moriarity
I just started reading Liane last year and quickly went through all of her books. Her most recent one, Big Little Lies was great. I liked The Husband's Secret as well.

As a side note, I read The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion and LOVED it. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel, The Rosie Effect.

My wish for today is that somehow, some way I can find more time to sit and read. It's so relaxing for me and I love getting lost in a book. Please feel free to leave me some suggestions of authors and books that I can add to my list.

My other wish for today is for you to meet Christine from The So-Called Homemaker. Christine, in her own words, is a wife, a mother, and so much more. She just finished a series on her blog called Mamas Tell All and she may be starting another series based on real estate (from selling to buying, leasing, being a landlord etc). She has delicious recipes (vegetarian chili!) and plenty of great posts on exercise and trying fit.

Here's Christine, in her own words.

We know you're a blogger. tell us what you like to do when you're not blogging.

I spend most of my spare time (there;s not much of it) reading, working out, and playing silly games with my family.

Even though it's like choosing your favorite child, what are your top 3 favorite posts you have written?

How did you come up with the name of your blog? Care to share any contenders that did not make the cut?
Honestly, when I was thinking of names for my blog, it just kind of popped into my head, so it wasn't something that I put a lot of thought into coming up with. But the more I thought about it, the more I loved it, because it perfectly described me. Since I work from home, I'm not technically a stay-at-home mom, but I do everything a homemaker would, too. So there you have it!
What is the one most surprising thing you have learned since you started blogging?
That for the most part, women want to build each other up, not tear each other down! I think in "real life", it is often the opposite.
As you may (or may not) know, I have a few vices; Target, office supplies, collecting fonts. What are some of yours?
Skyrim, notebooks, and purses.
