sewing: city gym shorts

it would seem that the new city gym shorts free pattern by purl soho has taken the internet by storm, especially Shorts on the Line. naturally, I couldn’t resist whipping some up for the girls.

Kahlin requested cats (catnap by Lizzy House) and cheetah print (from my long-hoarded stash of field study by AMH), which is just perfect for her. I even managed some fancy pants pattern matching at the front there. yes, be impressed… very impressed. after all, it was probably the most complicated part of these shorts. they are super simple, and a quick sew!

this girl cracks me up. the socks, always pulled up. nearly always white, even with black shoes. nothing I say can dissuade her from this fine fashion statement. at least it matches the white topstitching I determined-ly pushed through with… you know, because that’s what thread I had in the machine. I started to regret that choice halfway through, but I had committed. just don’t zoom in too much on these pics!

turns out the city gym shorts are also perfect for biking, which makes this new little biking enthusiast quite happy.

The 2014 Shorts on the Line sewalong is sponsored by: Britex Fabrics, Hawthorne Threads, miss matatabi, and Soak Wash. Hosted by imagine gnats, small friendly, and Kollabora.

happy stitching!
