sewing: shandiin tank

today I’m sharing my contribution to the september showcase, a shandiin tank! yep, no surprise that this is another great pattern by Sarah of LouBee Clothing, one of my most favorite designers.

I pretty much stitched up the pattern as-is with just a few construction edits. honestly, I’ve been drafting so much for Project Run & Play that it seemed exciting to just print out a pattern and sew it ;)

the contrast fabric is double gauze from Ellen Luckett Baker’s framework collection, and I just adore those little circles. instead of making bias tape with the double gauze, I used some floral bias tape I had in the stash (thanks Cassie!), and I omitted the bias tape on the back by folding down the edge on the top back of the shirt and topstitching. all in all, a fairly lazy finish. but some days you just need to whip through a shirt all crazy-mad-hatter-like in under an hour.

for the body of the shirt, I used laguna jersey in white/pfd that we did some Lumi inkodye testing on last weekend. I taped a triangle shape on the fabric, covered it with orange inkodye, and then Brenna put straight pins on it for exposing. it’s not perfect, but she had fun making it and is excited to be able to wear it. can you see the excitement?

my official pattern verdict? awesome! great fit, good directions, super cute shirt with a whole lot of options. yep. another big winner from LouBee Clothing and you should have this pattern in your stash.

don’t forget to enter the big september showcase pattern giveaway here. ps. Project Run & Play week one reveal is tomorrow!! I might be a *little* excited :)

happy stitching!
