How I Wear My: Pink

Welcome to the 28th edition of How I Wear My!

While pink seems a natural choice for February’s “How I Wear My” because of Valentine’s Day, Jill of Everything Just So and I never could have predicted the amount of pink we’d see, from the red carpet to magazine editorial spreads. Have you noticed that it’s everywhere right now?

When your pictures started coming in it was interesting to note what shades of pink people gravitated towards, and hands down it is the hot and dark shades of pink that seem the most popular.

Pink is a color everybody appears to have a little of in their closet, whether it’s a blouse, blazer, or bag. Enjoy this visual ‘La Vie en Rose’ and let it inspire you to put on some pink today!

As always, my HIWM partner, Jill of Everything Just So starts us off. She is wearing a beautiful deep pink scarf from Old Navy that has sequins and beads with her black J. Crew coat and she is carrying her Sylvia Steininger “New York” tote that has several shades of dark and light pinks in its pattern.

Ana of Mrs. American Made has this to say about her pink look:

“I was shopping recently and I spotted this amazing fitted wool blazer by Trina Turk (made in USA, of course) and I knew it would be perfect for this post. I liked the bright pink shade and I realized that it is the only shade of pink I actually wear, even though I do like other shades of it. I paired it here with some classic black and white and jeans to ‘tone it down’”.

Ana’s daughter, Nadia joined HIWM for the first time. She loves pink so much, her mother says she wears it everyday! It is her most favorite of her favorite colors- pink, purple and orange. Here she kept it to two pieces, the cardigan and the tights. Sometimes, she goes for subdued and only includes one item, but there are days when she is pink head-to-toe.

Josephine of Chic at Any Age wears ‘the coat of the season’, an oversized duster by Marks and Spencer in a lovely rich pink. Beautiful!

Terry of Terry’s Two Cents wears a vibrant pink Van Heusen shirt. He pairs it with a dark gray blazer from Old Navy and a DKNY tie. Jill and I just love having Terry join us for HIWM! It’s great to have a men’s take on our monthly theme.

Teresa, wife of Denton Taylor wears a brilliant pink Narcisco Rodriguez dress. Her shoes from the 2012 Prada Flame collection and her Gucci lizard bag was found on eBay as was her vintage green necklace.

Liz of What Liz Loves has had these pink jeans for a few years now and has worn them through every season. She loves the subtle shade of pink. They look great with light neutrals!

Kim of Northern California Style likes to style her pink with navy blue. Here she wears her favorite pink scarf with a navy coat, pink sweater and Hunter boots. The scarf lights up her face!

Nicole of High Latitude Style has this to say about her pink look:

“Typically I wear this skirt with a leopard or floral patterned top. I wanted to wear brown and pink together, and not repeat the outfit of a couple of days before, my brown leather sheath with this pink top. Thus, a new oufit was born ;). I am the blogger behind High Latitude Style. My interest is to stay warm in style through seven months of winter ;)”

Alice of Happiness at Mid Life recently picked up this pink blazer from Banana Republic. She loves pink, white and brown together since it reminds her of neopolitan ice-cream. Yum!

Celina of Celina’s Lookbook takes pink to the office with this hot pink silk blouse from J. Crew and vibrant and sparkling pink statement necklace that is the ideal accessory for her look. This is Celina’s first time participating in How I Wear My. Be sure to stop by her blog for a visit!

Susan of Une Femme d’un Certain Age says, “I’ve been stalking this scarf for a while, and finally purchased. There’s something about pink and grey that I find so elegant and lively at the same time.” Agreed!

Amy of Denim and Dots loves pink and wears this hot pink dress often. She likes how versatile it is. She can easily change it up with different shoes, tights, and jewelry. That’s the sign of a great basic dress!

Heather of Vintage French Chic has this to say about her pink floral look: “All of the pink I have tends to be in my accessories. But I love having a pop of it against my usual greys, blacks and browns neutrals. And pink gloss is always de rigueur!”

Cynthia of My Rose Colored Shades is new to How I Wear My and has this to say about her brilliant pink look:

“The hot pink scarf and clutch really liven up this otherwise monochromatic outfit. I’m not a big fan of color coordinating my accessories but this time I just couldn’t resist. The clutch is way too cute to pass up. The scarf not only adds a pop of color but it also gives me a sense of pride. This past Christmas, my 9-year-old decided to use the money she had been saving up to buy gifts for everyone in our family including cousins and grandparents. She carefully chose each gift and really thought about what each person would like to have. Almost all of the gifts were from Five Below, including my pink scarf. I couldn’t be more proud of my eldest daughter”

Trina of Tea Time with Trina says that pink has been her favorite color since she can remember, probably dating back to all her days spent in her ballet uniform (which she loved). So, when she tried to choose an outfit to send in, she began to notice her closet and armoir are packed with pink items. She even felt a bit guilty (no more pink buying for her).

This is a plaid jacket/dress. It can be worn by itself as a dress or over a simple sheath dress or even a skirt and top. She’s worn it several different ways but this is her favorite.

Tamera of Tamera Beardsley wears her favorite Chinese jacket in a vibrant fuchsia. She bought it years ago in LA’s Chinatown and made it modern this year with the addition of blue and white stripes and a strong dose of an all white pairing

Malia of Style by Malia, my new local friend, wardrobe stylist and entrepreneur is wearing hot pink stripes for her first How I Wear My submission. The striped top is by Gwynnie Bee and she’s wearing a sequined skirt.

Sheree of It’s Not That Deep admits that she’s not a huge pink lover but she does have a few pink looks that she loves. Here, she wears a blazer from ASOS and vintage Pucci shoes. Since pink is so feminine, she likes to edge it up a bit with distressed denim.

Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo Style Files created a chic red and pink look for Valentine’s Day with a thrifted blazer with a fabric brooch that she made herself.

I couldn’t let a HIWM: Pink pass by without wearing my hot pink trench coat that I have had since the late 1990′s.

I wore it with a black sheath dress I bought for $5 in a thrift shop, a rhinestone choker (also thrifted) and a pair of Ivanka Trump hot pink pumps.

Visit Jill’s blog for even more HIWM: Pink looks! And thank you to each and every one of you who participated this month. Without you all, there would be no How I Wear My every month.

For March, that trickiest of weather months, we are going to stick with an item that all of us are sure to still be wearing whether March decides to be a lion or a lamb (or both): Boots!

So whether you like riding, over-the-knee, combat, ankle, or lace-up versions, join us for “How I Wear My: Boots.” Send a picture to us at [email protected] by March 3, 2014.
