Twirly Black

Disclosure: I will do darn near anything for free swag. Excluded in that "anything" is selling my soul, or having words put into my mouth. eShakti provided me this free dress, but I provide my own opinions.

I've had mixed experiences with eShakti. The first dress? A failure, currently repaired (thanks Mom!) but on the way to the thrift store.

The second dress? A strong win. (I may even wear it tomorrow!)

This dress? It's mostly made of win!

I selected this flutter sleeve wrap dress (currently out of stock) for a number of reasons, one of which being I know eShakti dresses -- even when customized -- always fit a little tight in the ribs and loose in the chest, so having something where the size is adjustable is great!

The good:

It's quite comfortable, especially since it's a true wrap dress, so after I ate a free personal pan pizza at 2:30 in the afternoon (after having finished my pasta lunch only an hour before) I could adjust it and sit comfortably at my desk. It's also the first wrap dress where I don't fear a wardrobe malfunction with the skirt. (Of course, much of this is due to the heavy cotton jersey that is used. There is some static cling issues with the two front pieces overlapping but I still count not exposing my undies a giant win regardless of the cause). It's a touch long, but if I was smart, I would have remembered to shorten it in the customization step. Meh, that's why they invented heels.

The bad:

The advertising says "inner button front closure". I can't find the button front closure. I had assumed it would be around the chestal region (I've checked everywhere else), which would be nice because while the skirt doesn't slip around with the wrap closure, the chest does (epecially if you loosen the waist after a carb heavy lunch AND a carb heavy second lunch).

Being a true wrap, there is also a slit through which the ties must pass. This slit tends to gape, and while I initially was able to adjust the ties to cover it, they do slip around a bit.

Of course, both issues can be resolved with the use of a cami, so again, we'll chock this dress up to a win.

The recommendations:

I would love love love this dress if it were a slightly lighter weight cotton jersey. The sleeves don't quite flutter softly. Plus, this style is just CRYING OUT for blue with white polka dots. Then, it would be the perfect summer dress!

eShakti, you're slowly winning me over. Now, if you implemented a service like Borderfree so customs fees wouldn't be a scary surprise payable upon delivery (seriously people: expect to pay at least 50% of the dresses value in customs fees in Canada) and switched to a much better shipper than DHL (who has 1 pick up location in Winnipeg, which is located across the city at the airport, and is only opened M-F 8-6, aligning almost perfectly with my work hours), I might actually buy something with my own money.

Until then, thanks for the awesome dress!
