Fare Thee Well, Adelia Mittens

www.knittedbliss.com

It is with much sadness that I report that last night, due to a variety of transit woes that left me flagging down a taxi and then rushing out of it, I lost my Adelia mitts. I don’t remember which taxi company it was, and some phone calls this morning have yielded nothing. I’m sad, especially because I don’t think I realized until they were gone that they were my favourite mittens, the ones I wore the most- I liked that they were stranded, it added some extra warmth without being too bulky, and they matched my dark green coat perfectly. There was cashmere in the yarn. They were perfect.

I knit these while pregnant with Lila, and the project page can be found here.

I think, if I root around my stash, I still have yarn to make another pair. I could make them again, but I have to admit I don’t often re-knit the same pattern, and there are so many awesome stranded mittens out there in the world, maybe I might think about doing a slightly different pattern- I’m considering the following:

Elephant Mittens. I love the neat design to them, although part of me wonders if I especially like them because of the fun, bright, highlighter shades used for the contrast.

Anstruther Mitts. These might fun to use up some leftovers for the extra couple of colours for a bit of a brighter mitt, and are very classic and timeless. I like the rounded tip, too.

Snowfling mittens. I love the snowflake design, but these are DK, so I’d use different yarn the original lost mittens. Not really a hurdle, though. The pattern also comes with instructions for knitting a liner, and I may or may not, depending on how I felt about them when the outer one was finished.

What do all of you think? Re-knit the original, or try something new? Any of the above patterns you think are totally the one I should go for next?
