Top coffee spots in Cape Town

I love starting the day with a good coffee at one of the fabulous coffee spots in our neighbourhood. Although it’s nice to have a local favourite, I enjoy getting out and supporting other cafés too. Cape Town has an abundance of coffee shops and so I thought I would highlight a few of my favourites in the CBD, Woodstock and Atlantic Seaboard areas. Any additions to the list? Which are your faves?

TOWN

HAAS

You’ll find Haas in a beautiful old building just up from the Grand Parade. Cool, dark interiors with quirky, eclectic decor create an inviting setting. Fabulous coffee and gourmet meals.

19 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town

TRUTH

Truth is a great office-away-from-office with free wifi and plenty of plug points. Quirky steam punk decor makes for a creative and inspired setting. It can get super busy though, so time your visit well.

36 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town

THE BLEND

You’ll find The Blend just round the corner from Truth and Haas. Why you should visit… it’s small and personal with a great selection of coffees and freshly pressed juices too.

79 Roeland Street, Cape Town

YOURS TRULY

Yours Truly is a cool oasis on busy Long Street. They specialise in gourmet sandwiches, homemade pizza and coffee.

175 Long Street, Cape Town

JASON’S BAKERY

The ever trendy Jasons Bakery is always busy. A great hub and meeting spot in the heart of town with freshly baked pastries and delicious coffee.

185 Bree Street, Cape Town

BEAN THERE

Bean There Coffee has a spacious, light interior with plenty of fantastic freshly roasted coffees on offer.

58 Wale Street, Cape Town

DELUXE COFFEE

Deluxe Coffee is one of the pioneers of coffee in Cape Town and you’ll find their coffee being used at many restaurants and coffee shops. Pop into their shop just off Green Market Square and grab a great coffee and freshly roasted beans.

25 Church Street, Cape Town

GREEN POINT/ SEA POINT

SHIFT ESPRESSO BAR

This is another new edition to the Cape Town coffee scene. I’ve heard many good things about this spot and still need to visit it! Next coffee destination.

Cape Royal, 47 Main Road, Greenpoint

ORIGIN

This historic brick warehouse in De Waterkant is another one of the pioneers of coffee roasting in Cape Town. It’s a firm favourite amongst Cape Town locals. It can also get super busy so you can also try Loading Bay next door which is just as a great.

28 Hudson Street, De Waterkant

BOOTLEGGER COFFEE COMPANY

The BCC is becoming very much a hip local hangout and working spot. They open from 6:30am so it’s a great place to stop by after your run on the prom or early morning cycle for a great coffee and start to the day. Unfortunately there is no outdoor seating.

39-41 Regent Road, Sea Point

WOODSTOCK

TRIBE

Head over to The Woodstock Foundry for an early morning cuppa at Tribe. Locally roasted & locally sourced coffee. A parking lot just outside makes visiting a pleasure!

The Woodstock Foundry, 160 Albert Road, Woodstock

THE WOODSTOCK EXCHANGE

There are a handful of fantastic coffee spots at The Woodstock Exchange. Grab a coffee either at Superette, Rosetta Roastery or Field Office. Treat yourself to a little shopping afterwards and support local.

The Woodstock Exchange, 66 Albert Road, Woodstock

FIELD OFFICE

Their latest café in the heart of suburban Woodstock has a lovely cosy and intimate feel. It’s a great meeting place and an office-away-from-the-office with wifi.

FLATMOUNTAIN COFFEE

Flat Mountain Roasters have recently opened a coffee shop near Buchanon Square, on busy Sir Lowry Road. Pop in for a great coffee made by passionate staff.
