london travel diary.

As promised, here comes my little London Travel Diary! I went there 2 weeks ago and stayed for 2 days with my mom, my sister and her boyfriend. It was so nice to come back to the city after 4 years again and to see some of my favorite places, such as Oxford Street, St. Paul’s cathedral and discover some new… Make sure to check out the full post after the jump and FYI all underlined words and places are linked to Google Maps, so you can find everything easily!

Day 1: Easyjet brought us quite early from Berlin Schönefeld to London Gatwick! From there we took the train “Gatwick Express” to London, Victoria Station and then walked the way up to our first stop: Buckingham Palace! Such a beautiful architecture and my mom was so happy to finally see it live. Next stop was Green Park which is next to Buckingham Palace and if you are lucky to get to see some squirrels.. For breakfast we decided to go to Pret a Manger (which you will find almost everywhere!) and I just totally love its great and big selection of healthy, vegan, veggie and not so healthy food and snacks Since my sister and her boyfriend are vegan we always wanted to find a place where all of us will be happy and find something nice to eat. Then we walked up to Picadilly Circus, where a stop at Whole Foods Market was a must (20 Glasshouse Street, London) for us, before going to Regent Street for a little shopping tour. The streets and shop windows were all so beautifully decorated and I really got into a Christmas mood! Then we had to go to Oxford Street, where you will find all kinds of shops, like Topshop and River Island, where I bought this beautiful pink hat. And to answer the big question where to stay in London with a little budget? We stayed at YHA Oxford Street for one night, which was not only affordable (about 35€ per person) but also very clean and most important it was super central! The only thing I didn’t like about the place is that it you can everything through the walls – but luckily I took my earplugs with me, so I was able to sleep like a baby… For dinner we just had to cross the street to get to Le Pain Quotidienne and you know what? This place is beyond amazing and I could sit there all day long to have french breakfast and pastries, all kinds of soups and salads, the vegan chili sin carne and their homemade lemonade!

Day 2: On our second day in London we all wanted to go to “Le Pain Quotidienne” again to try their breakfast menu. We loved this place so much, that we just had to go there again. I had the “Petit Déjeuner” that included a croissant, an assortment of organic breads, orange juice and a regular hot beverage. So delicious! My mom and my sister hat fruit salads, granola and green smoothies for breakfast.. Then we went along Carnaby Street, where we discovered some pretty little shops with all kinds of pretty souveniers, clothes and shoes. Our next stop was Chinatown which was super amazing, compared to the one I saw in Paris After a quick stop at the river Thames we went to see Big Ben and Palace of Westminster. For lunch we went to the restaurant Noodlehouse in 117 Shaftesbury Avenue. They had a great southeast Asian menu and the best lemonade ever. Then it was almost time to go back to the airport. After some shopping we went to Notting Hill. What else can I say? London truly stole my heart once more! I am so in love with its beauty, charm and architecture… And talking about architecture: Notting Hill is simply amazing. It was my first time in this neighborhood and I totally fell in love with all those white houses and colorfull doors. So special and so magical.
