Make Placecard Holders Out of Gourds

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so lots of people are in search of fun entertaining ideas. This is a really simple and festive project that I made with my mom a couple of years ago. So here you go – gourd placecards.

DIY Gourd Placecard Holders – what you need:

  • small pumpkins or gourds
  • large knife
  • laminating paper or clear packing tape
  • cardstock
  • gold paint pen

To start this project, you’ll need to pick out a couple of small gourds or pumpkins – one for every person at your table. Take a piece of cardstock in the color of your choice and cut it into small pieces that are almost as wide as each gourd. Then write each of your guests’ names on these pieces of paper with a gold paint pen. Laminate each piece of paper or even just cover both sides with some clear packing tape.

Then take a large knife and cut a small slit at the top of each gourd. The slit should be about the size of the pieces of paper. Insert each placecard into the gourds and then set them out at your Thanksgiving table. Voila!
