June Via Instagram

Blogger cliche alert: June has gone so fast, I can’t believe how quickly it has sped by! But really, I can’t! Where did this month go?

Here’s a glimpse at my life this month as seen through the filtered lens of Instagram (you can find me over there @AThriftyMrsUK)

My obsession with avocados reached new heights this month. We’ve been bulk buying them and powering on through. We are on something of a health kick here and whilst avocados are fatty they are ‘good’ fats and I can feel the difference in my hair, skin and nails already! I also blogged about freezing avocado such is my obsession.

I took a serious disliking to this make up product – Baby Skin – and judging by the comments on Instagram and the blog post I wrote about it, a number of you feel the same! That said quite a few people did like it, so if you’re looking for a primer it is well worth reading not only this post but the comments below.

We’ve been exploring parks both near and far and making sure to take some time away from the world for strolls together. It has been lovely taking off to a park after supper for a little walk and explore, we switch off our phones (for the most part – ignoring the instagrams above haha!), hold hands and walk around chatting about what we’ve been up to that day, what our plans are for the house and enjoying our coupled up existence. If you’re in North West England (especially Gtr Manchester), I’d love your park recommendations.

We’ve had some lovely weather this month but we’ve also had some huge rains storms. Our house isn’t as water tight as it might appear and whilst nothing bad happened we do have a few buckets dotted around as a result!

Jarvis as usual was beyond cute, despite a growing dislike of cats and his urgent need to tell everyone within 3 miles. He was also quite sick last week and dropped around a pound in weight (he only weight 7.7lb anyway) which he now seems to be desperate to put back on as displayed by stuffing his face with every morsel of food he encounters in our local park.

The Sun and Royal Mail teamed up to put a copy of that newspaper through millions of doors and we said no thank you.

We took off to Cumbria for a mini break. We visited The Lake District, Whitehaven and beautiful St Bees. It was so lovely to get away for just a couple of days to relax, not look at a computer screen, not look at the long ‘to do’ list for the house and just soak up some down time.

I have become addicted to feta and watermelon salad. My local supermarket always seems to have pre-cut watermelon chunks reduce to 25p each evening and it would be rude not to indulge is something so delicious at such a low price. Don’t you agree?

Obviously much more happened in my life than has been documented on my phone but it’s nice to look back and see the month in one big chunk, to see what we got up to, remember the memories from behind the phone and the people we shared them with. It’s amazing how even just a little photo snapped on your phone can show so much more than it actually there. June is always a big month of ups and downs for us but thankfully this one was more up than down.
