Bootsale Booty

Yesterday we popped down to a bootsale on our way to pick out some tiles for our new bathroom. I suspect it will be one of the last outdoor bootsales of the year, so we just had to stop by for a nosy wander. Although we arrived fairly early a lot of the stall holders were packing their goods away because the wind was picking up and rain clouds were hovering overhead. There were still a few treasures to be had and weird bits and bobs to look at (if you’re a pretentious type you might like to call bootsales “Personal and Local Culture Museums” but I couldn’t stand by and let you do that without subjecting you to a two minute sniff of my dog’s breath) before the rain started pelting us.

We still had time for a quick mooch around and I picked up a few bits and bobs for the kitchen and dining rooms.

The first thing I spotted came in the form of these fabulous 1970s homemade napkins which the stall holder told me her mother had made but never used. 7 kitsch-tastic napkins made it home with me for 70p and I have plans to turn them into something else very soon.

On the next stall I spotted a Sadler Celery jar complete with hilariously bonkers face for 50p. I’d wanted one of these for years and years but they have become pretty collectable in recent years and I haven’t had the balls to fork over nearly £20 for one of these. I have plans for this bad boy!

And last but not least, once we’d completed our loop of the stalls I stopped at the last one and found these amazing pink glass salad serving spoons. I have a small collection of beautiful pink glassware and had, up until this point, never seen glass serving spoons in this colour. They are a lovely weight to hold and will be a useful addition to our cutlery drawer and best of all only cost £1!

Total spend: £2.20
