The Happy List: Chapter 10

It's been a while since I shared a happy list. After browsing through my archives I realised that I've been posting them since October 2012 and I'm only on number ten! Absolutely shameful, I know. (Also, sorry for the absence of regular posts! A post is coming on 'that' too).

Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude. ~ RALPH WALDO EMERSON

1: Rediscovering my love for Instagram. I crop, play with the brightness and up the contrast of my pics in Afterlight, then use a filter in VSCOcam (usually the same one each time) before uploading to my feed. It's yet another thing that I can add to my ever-growing list of things that I find therapeutic.

2: Watching last year's gardening efforts come to fruition this year. I'm not a gardener by any means! and I never really thought that I would get into gardening, probably one of the reasons that we went for a house with a flagstone yard, but we have flower beds and I couldn't bare the thought of leaving them empty so I decided to nip to the garden centre and bought the prettiest looking plants I could find (seasoned gardeners are probably cringing right now, sorry!), looked after them and now my flower beds look pretty!

3: Speaking of gardening, my peonies are beautiful! I trimmed a few to pop in a vase for the living room. They had a fair few creepy crawlies on them (a spider ran out of one and I had to wait until Jack got home before I could go in the front room again!) but once I'd got rid of them all, I was able to bask in the pretty pink pompom fluffiness of them. Proud!

4: Planning mum's annual birthday trip to York. Definitely hitting a few museums and pubs we haven't been in this year! Fingers crossed that the sun comes out to play again.

5: Niamh's got a new thing. She's started tumbling over onto her back. She starts by rolling over with her head and then lands on her back so you can rub her tummy. When I say tumbling it's more like a flopping but of course it doesn't look anything other than graceful. I'm going to have to go and squish her once I've finished up writing this post!

6: My impending October holiday to Spain with my siblings! This is pretty self explanatory. I love the sea, I love the sun, I love visiting places I haven't been to before. So hopefully I'll love this holiday.

7: Adding an elliptical machine to our gym equipment. It's tough going when you're use to an exercise bike!

8: Finally starting with the contact lenses. I'm still finding it pretty tricky putting them in (getting them out is easy!) and I'm finding the whole 'no weight on my face' thing kind of odd but this means that I can finally wear sunnies without using Jack as my guide.

9: A new job, one that I actually feel positive about.

10: Going to one of my best friend's wedding dress fittings (in my friend's bridal boutique that I posted about last month!), I've never been to a fitting as a bridesmaid before so that was fun! and it was pretty emotional seeing Ellen in the most beautiful dress, she's going to look incredible on the day! x
