Ox Pasture Hall - Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Ox Pasture Hall recently got in touch and asked whether Jack and I would like to sample their beautiful hotel and offerings for ourselves. Needless to say we were very excited to pop over for a visit! The hall is surrounded by large, open and absolutely stunning countryside making it the most perfectly secluded place to go to unwind with your partner. Better still, it is situated 2 miles from the Scarborough coast, a seaside town that the both of us have fond memories of visiting as children.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our very own luxury suite for the night. The room itself was immaculate, bright and comfortable with a lush king-sized bed, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and board (this came in handy when Jack wanted to iron his shirt before dinner!), television with reception and a large bathroom with the biggest, most luxurious bath I have ever had the pleasure of soaking in. I couldn't have been more pleased. We had views out on to the garden and the surrounding woodland from our bedroom, adding to the very tranquil atmosphere that enveloped us.

We headed back to reception shortly after settling into our room to try the afternoon tea. I'm a bit of an afternoon tea newbie and have always wanted to try it for myself! I was not left disappointed. I think it is safe to say that I am now an afternoon tea convert. We were offered a glass of bubbly before our delicious cakes and sandwiches were brought out to us, with plenty of coffee (our beverage of choice!) to wash them all down with. Even Jack, who isn't a massive cake fan, absolutely loved it!

After tea, we decided to go for a little walk around the grounds. Luckily the weather behaved for us! The gardens were impeccable and were a pleasure to walk around. We were going to walk on one of the trails we had seen on the drive up through the woods but I had forgotten my walking boots! Maybe next time ;)

We had a couple of hours to kill before dinner so we settled down in our suite to watch Harry Potter whilst snuggled up in our fluffy bath robes. The main thing that stood out to the both of us was how quiet and peaceful the entire hotel was, no mean feat I'm sure as the hotel was pretty busy! Dinner was at 7, so I popped on a dash of red lipstick while Jack ironed his shirt. In hindsight, I wish I'd brought something fancy along with me as I think the experience called for it! Tomato soup was served as an appetiser with a selection of breads compliments of the chef. Then we moved onto the chicken roulade starter, which was divine. Jack had the lamb for his main course, while I had chosen the brisket. My brisket was something else! Everything was cooked to perfection and the service we received throughout the meal was fabulous, no ridiculous waiting time between courses and our needs were constantly being catered to. Our main courses were so rich and filling that we were too full for desserts so we decided to head back to the bar for another drink.

We sat in front of a fire and enjoyed a quiet drink while we looked back on our day through the photographs we had taken. We were both pretty sleepy at this point, so we made our way back to our room and ordered room service (a bottle of Prosecco). I'm not a good sleeper but I was so relaxed (and that bed was so comfy) that I slept the night through and woke feeling completely rested. I'm feeling rather relaxed just reminiscing about our time there!

All in all, it was definitely worth the two hours it took us to get there and I genuinely recommend considering paying Ox Pasture Hall a visit should you ever find yourself planning a short break away in the area. It was the perfect Christmas getaway, just what we needed.

Thank you so much for having us, Ox Pasture Hall! We are already trying to come up with a suitable date to visit you again! x
