Beauty Challenge: How much makeup can you buy for the price of one Tom Ford lipstick?

I have one makeup dream, and that’s to own a Tom Ford lipstick. But shelling out $50 for a lipstick is just something I just can’t bring myself to do at this point. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy my fair share of luxury makeup brands (hello YSL, Chanel and Dior!). But I’m also a big believer in the makeup gems that can be found at say, your local Walmart. To prove my point, I went on a mission to Walmart to see what I could buy for $50, equivalent to the cost of one Tom Ford lipstick.

My initial goal was to try and build an entire makeup look, from foundation to lashes. It was a lofty for someone like me it seems.

You see, as I started to peruse the aisles, more and more lip products started landing in my basket. But come on, there was a deal on NYC lipsticks priced at 2 for $3! With such a large selection of products, I was having a hard time choosing. I put some lip products back and added a L’Oreal mascara and Hard Candy eyeshadow palette to the haul. I still kept two L’Oreal and Revlon lip products in my basket

My one pet peeve though was finding lip products that had been tested, even though they weren’t testers. But all in all, I had a great time shopping. So I guess in the end, my challenge changed from: how many products can you get for $50 to how many lip products can you get for $50? I’ve swatched most of these products already and am really pleased with the quality for the price.
