Bare and beautiful: the revival of the nude look

The days that we had to wear vast layers of mascara before we could bare to face the outside world are over: the nude look is back! Unfortunately we don’t all look like the supermodels sporting the nude looks in the pictures above (say hello Cara, Lindsey, Sasha and Catherine), but a good foundation and a hint of Strobe Cream goes a long way.

You could never explain a man the many variaties of the nude look – to him, it’s just makeup that fools people into thinking you’re wearing no makeup at all. Useless and a waste of time. Ask a woman though, and she’ll give you an endless list of varieties.

There’s the nude eye look with a berry stained lip, or the nude look with glossy eyes, the nude look with humongous bushy brows and the nude look with rosy cheeks. And then of course the Dolce & Gabbana campaign starring the insanely beautiful Bianca Balti, that caused the revival of the barely-there, creamy nude lip color. To a woman, they’re all just as distinctive and impossible to confuse.

At CHAPTER FRIDAY we love them all, especially because a look like this makes you feel ‘out there’: like you are wearing nothing at all. Without mascara your face just feels a lot more vulnerable. It takes some guts to show your face as it is, but (especially if you’ve had a proper night’s sleep) it can be quite liberating.

Tell us, are you a big supporter of the nude look? Or would you never (never!) leave the house without mascara and eyeliner?
