Ever thought of becoming a morning person? Here’s why you should consider

Ahh, we all dream of success.. Unfortunately, dreaming won’t get us anywhere. Instead, us girls at the office like to work hard on the road to success, and give other go-getter chicks some tips and tricks to do the same. A few quick changes in your day to day routine can already make a difference when it comes to your career. Especially when it comes to your morning routine..

For successful people, it’s all about the mornings – whether that is at 4.00 AM (yes, really), 8.00 AM or 10 AM. The first hour of a day at the office is likely to set the tone for the rest of the day, and successful people know this. They’ve adopted an early morning work routine, and an early start is one of the reasons they work so productively.

A new routine can be quite difficult to adopt, but with these … tips, you can at least make a start ;).

AT 07.00 AM
This is the moment where you probably hit the snooze button again, and again. But getting up early gives you more time to actually wake up and start your day. So try to get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off. Not a morning person? (We hear ya! Who on earth gets up at 06.00 AM?) Try to get up five or ten minutes earlier than you usually do each day. It’s only a few minutes, but it will matter on the long run. Hello homemade pancakes for breakfast!

AT 07.30 AM
Once you’re up and running, don’t check your e-mails right away. With a phone as an alarm clock, it’s tempting to check your phone and see what’s going on, but try to resist the urge. Morning time is ‘me’ time, so have a healthy breakfast, drink your morning coffee and read the newspaper (or a magazine) while you’re at it. Make sure to take at least ten to twenty minutes for yourself.

AT 08.00 AM
On your way to work – whether you’re sitting on the tube or riding your bicycle – it’s time to quickly go through the day. Imagine what you’d like your day to look like and be positive about the outcome. It will instantly increase your mood and give you energy. Bring it on!

AT 08.30 AM
Devote your morning time to e-mails and planning. This way, you can focus on your other tasks for the rest of the day. Get your e-mails out of the way first thing in the morning. Take one hour to answer all of them – or, if that’s impossible, the most important ones – and then check your e-mail regularly during the day. If you start off with sending and answering e-mails, you don’t have to stress about forgetting to send an important e-mail later on.

AT 09.30 AM
Time to get your priorities sorted. Pour yourself a cup of freshly brewed coffee and make a planning. We suggest making a clear to-do list the afternoon or evening before. This way, you can quickly take a look at your tasks of the day without it taking up too much of your time.

Besides your to-do list, it’s a good idea to make a planning. This way you’ll know in which direction your day will go. Of course, there can always be minor disruptions, distractions, etc. The planning is simply a hold-on. Plus, it’s easier to get things done when you know why you’re doing it or what you’re doing it for.

AT 10.00 AM
Let’s do this! The morning is the right moment to take on the hardest and most daunting task on your to do list. You’re fresh, alert and your motivation is at its peak. Grab this opportunity – at least now you still have enough energy to get your brain working. After you’ve completed your biggest task, the satisfaction that comes with it will keep you going throughout the rest of the day.
