It’s DIY time! Four DIY’s I did for the new HEMA blog

This time of year, right before the Holidays set in, is when I feel like staying in and making the most of my home. Not in the sense of huge transformations that require huge budgets, but rather adding little personal touches that make a big impact.

In comes HEMA Blog, a platform on which over twenty of my favorite Dutch bloggers come together and write for. You’ll find tailor made interior tips, easy DIY projects, styling advice… given by the pros and collected on that one space.

Definitely worth checking out and although all content is in Dutch, I’m excited to show you what it’s all about. Each blogger is assigned a topic and mine is interior. I chose so because HEMA is one of those warehouses with endless joy-bringers for in and around the house. From pillows, to lamps to notebooks. Each month, I zoom in on one specific item and put it to daily use.

Right now, I’m getting a moodboard together for big bedroom make over; one that makes my bedroom feel like a boutique hotel. I’ll show you every step of that adventure! First, let me walk you through the small and sweet projects I’ve done for the HEMA Blog so far.

For full explanations (in Dutch, mind you), and posts by other bloggers, head over to their website. Now get out your paper and scissors… and go!

#1 How to… make a Polaroid heart on the wall

Ahhh, the pers of when old fashioned photo fun and technology meet. HEMA has an option to print out Instagram snapshots, or any other digital photo really, as if it were a classic Polaroid. Sweet, charming and old school. I like my memories right where I can see them: on my wall. So this serves as a daily reminder of happy memories. All you need is tape and a selection of snapshots! Find out more on how I made my heart of Polaroid pictures here.

#2 How to… create a neat and inspiring home office

For most people, a home office has to be versatile. Maybe your office is where you do most of the work, or maybe the room doubles as guest bedroom or living room. Either way you want it to look good and be functional at the same time. I shared seven tips on HEMA blog to make your home office the best and most inspiring it can possibly be and you can find those (again, in Dutch) here.

#3 Monochrome styling tips for an all-white nightstand

A clean head is a clear home, is something I truly live by. To really relax and unwind with as little input and distraction as possible, white is the perfect color. It’s easiest to start small: with your nightstand. Here’s how I showcase my essentials, from a small notebook to scented candle, in an all white setting.

#4 DIYing in 5 minutes or less: framed floating feathers

If you had to name an interior trend that has not been skipped by one blog or Pinterest board, then it’s the framed feather trend. No wonder, because even the biggest DIY-dummy puts this small crafts project with a big impact together in no time. Are you curious yet? Here’s how you do it. Ready, set, DIY!

The next big project? A big bedroom make-over, for your very own boutique hotel experience – at home. I’ll share this adventure on CHAPTER FRIDAY soon, promise!

Which one of my crafty projects did you like best? The HEMA blog can be found on blog.hema.nl! Enjoy!

All articles on the HEMA Blog are written in Dutch.
