Tried and tested: glitter socks in open shoes

Blinded by the sight of something sparkly, I ran over to the corner where these socks were stalled out. I needed some glittery goodness in my life, obviously, and justified the purchase by telling myself I’d write about them on here. I reasoned I’d buy them for a fashion experiment that I’ve been wanting to try out: open shoes with statement socks.

Ha! Don’t you just love it when you get to use your job as an excuse to buy something new?

Now I should say this style takes some getting used to. I’d best compare wearing socks in shoes to wearing a hat. You’ve seen it looking good on other people, you love it in photos, it’s no biggie… But when it’s you rocking the item, all of a sudden it feels a bit… odd. You become a bit more self aware.

However, I wasn’t going to let any sense of uncertainty in and rocked these socks to a birthday party, paired with a navy midi dress. After a full night out I could conclude: a) nothing makes you quite as happy as a set of sparkly feet and b) glitter socks take your dance moves to a whole new level if there’s a disco ball involved. Boogie on!
