DIY Purple Ikat Woven Hudson Pants

The Hudson Pant pattern has quickly become my most used pants pattern of all time. For my third pair, I used a woven rayon fabric printed with a kind of ethnic, kind of ikat pattern. I've got to say I love these pants. There was a period of time between cutting these out and and completing sewing during which I feared that I would HATE these pants. I questioned why I ever thought that I should have purple patterned pants. But they were cut so I had nothing to lose besides a few hours of happy stitching.

Once they were all sewn up, my fears subsided and I couldn't be happier. Yay! Phew! So, glad that I am not completely crazy in my sewing plans.

I used knit fabric for the other two versions (here and here) I made so to convert to woven fabric, I followed the advice in this post. I cut the pattern two sizes larger, lengthened the pockets and eliminated pocket binding, the drawstring and cuffs. Otherwise, it was just the same.

The fit is just perfect, not too slouchy and not too tight. I've already worn these to the office and will definitely be wearing them again soon. If I make them again, I think I'll try a basic neutral color that I can get a lot of use out of without anyone thinking "wow she's wearing crazy purple pants again!".
