DIY Chambray Tank Dress

This dress is my kind of dress. Simple, easy to wear and immensely versatile. I even wore it to go to lunch on my birthday this week! I paired it with my favorite cowboy boots and vintage sweater. I felt totally cool and totally me. I can dress this up for going out or just lounge around the house in it. I can see wearing it to the beach for cruising around town. The design is very simple but perfectly crafted. The curve of the hem and neck are really beautiful.

The pattern is the Eucalypt dress by Megan Nielsen. The only change I made was to lengthen the dress about three inches. I could probably lengthen it a little more even. When belted it looks pretty short. I really like the fit and I'm sure I will be using this pattern a lot.

I love how the hem dips in the back. So perfect!! The fabric is a lightweight chambray from my stash. It's very easy to sew with. I don't recall where I bought this fabric, probably from a store in downtown LA. I've also made a button front skirt from it.

I dressed up the seams with yellow topstitching using a lightweight, rayon embroidery thread. Topstitching is just the best don't you think? I did double lines around the neck, armholes and center front seam. It's not unlike my retro denim dress except for that dress I used a heavier weight topstitching thread to match the heavier fabric.

As it's kind of almost winter, I started thinking about how I could style this for colder temps. I immediately went to my old plaid shirt and brown leather accessories. Bringin' back the 90s yo! Urban Outfitters would totally put this in a catalog right? Sans cactus of course.
